Hey all ! First time poster here, so I have an oddball mission I’m looking to accomplish… I own a 2002 Lexus IS300, our cars have two rear circular taillight fog lights with a button near the steering wheel to active the lights/deactivate the lights. Basically my end goal is to have one of these MS18 flashlights custom fitted ( I have no issue doing so ) into the left or right fog light hole in replace of the OEM fog light, would anyone have any idea if it would be possible to hardwire the flashlight to make it possible to click the button near the dash to activate the flashlight sitting in replacement of the fog light if I were to somehow take everything apart from the OEM fogs ? Clueless to as if this is possible, safe, a pain in the a$$ etc… lol any help is appreciated!

I’m curious as to your use case since on-road use would be incredibly dangerous and likely make your vehicle not road legal due to missing foglights and the capability to positively blind other drivers.
As for the technical side of things, a lot of things that make a flashlight a flashlight, namely battery operation, self-contained-ness and button control UI would be rendered useless and actually stand in your way somewhat. You could feasibly keep the flashlights as-is, solder wires in place of the original button and use a contactor operated by the foglight circuit. That way you would need to periodically recharge your lights but they could stay mostly intact. You could look into replacing the internal driver with one that just comes on when 12VDC power is applied but that would require major disassembly of the lights.
You’re probably best off just getting a set of suitably sized offroading lights and save yourself the hassle and expense of buying imalents.
Almost anything is possible with sufficient budget.

The real question I would be asking is what are you trying to accomplish? The resulting setup would be likely deemed illegal by the majority of law enforcement agencies around the world and moronic by the majority of other drivers who have to share the road with you.

Haha thanks guys ! No this is a drift build. Wouldn’t be used on the road whatsoever, would look sweet in alot of clips etc so me and my buddy’s wanted to do the front but I had the idea of testing the rears as it would be very similar style as the OEM fogs.

Myself I’d still probably opt for something that was designed for vehicle use. Car electrics are weird, there are vibrations, dust and moisture ingress and chances are your expensive and painstakingly modified Imalents would die an untimely death. Since I’m not much of a car person, I’m only familiar with dubious aliexpress specials and can’t recommend specific brands but I’m sure someone here could. Those offroading lights can get b-right as well, the Imalent is extremely bright -for a self contained flashlight- but with nearly unlimited onboard power (at least from a LED lighting perspective) you can really go to town.
You’d probably find on a high setting, the light blows out all detail of the video.
IMO, you’d be better with something more “throwy” maybe a CSLNM1.23 behind an aspheric lens to produce a sharp beam of light…

Does it need to be as bright as a MS18?
Are you planning on mounting it behind the fog light lens?
Looking for something fairly brighter than your regular fog light kinda deal, I just thought the MS18 would be cool lol
Seems to me the goal is to blind whoever is behind. ms 18 is 100k lumens, no way i believe he is looking for something brighter, the only purpose for such light is to seriously screw up someone behind.
I’m associated with a repair/body shops, we had customers ask for something similar, and much worse, we do not buy their stories, we show them the door, if we did what they asked we would be liable if they caused injuries, and with some things people ask us to do, injuries is their goal.
