What are the most important features you look for when looking for a quality flashlight (besides lumen)?
I am currently helping www.ledflashlightstore.com.au with their online marketing.
The owner has written the products descriptions himself, and I am just doing some research to know the market a bit better.
What kind of uses would for example the 13,000 lumen flashlight be ideal for?
Yeah, first off the prices are just way off. Stating an “RRP” and then crossing it out isn’t fooling anyone. That “F154” can be had for $100-$110AUD landed. Those “4000mAh” <- LOL… 18650s can be bought for less than $4AUD landed.
The lumen claims on all the lights are a joke.
The 4000mAh 18650s are a joke.
Stating a light has a CREE T6 emitter is pretty useless. Trying stating the actual emitter type, then bin, then tint. (Although I can almost guarantee the tint won’t be known on any those lights, and for that matter probably the bin as well)
I could go on…
My honest opinion would be to look to somewhere like mtn electronics or illum. Both well made websites with good products and realistic pricing. I don’t mean to be harsh, but it is this sort of thing that causes Australians to shop for everything overseas.
Get the owner to join this forum and spend some time reading and contributing. Then they will see what people are looking for.
I completely agree with you guys regarding prices. The owner actually tried selling the flashlights at the crossed out prices earlier, and I must admit that I was a bit more careful in my language when pointing out the high prices to the owner.
It should also have a warning that users in Qld should refrain from pointing the light to the south during summer as it may cause a bush fire in Victoria.
Could be useful for making caves in solid rock. Imagine how handy this feature would be if it was also a zoomie? You could make anything from a burrow to a cavern.
I think the “Lumen Rating Explained” is pretty deceptive, especially the last line “LED chips all have a known light output and are all made to a worldwide standard - the design of the torch and its lens will determine the ” perceived power” of an individual torch, headlight or bicycle light.“
Please read the light descriptions and inform the owner that you cannot have a waterproof zoomie where the body moves, no matter what depth, the Ultrafire f113 cannot be found anywhere else and looks exactly like the Z1, which can be got for less than 20% of the price asked there.
Australians are used to having to pay through the nose for things, but c’mon get real.
Who said Ned was dead.
I think the only good thing here is, at least you’ve informed the flashlight community NOT to buy from this vendor. So I guess we should be grateful for that.
I have to chime in on this. I just had a look at the website and find there could be some further issues on top of the ridiculous pricing.
In the “about us” section is this comment :
————————————————————————————————
The LED Flashlight Store is a member of the Brisbane based Unicorn Online Group - a business with a growing number of online stores which specialise in specific products & markets where we can supply the right product (all of which comply with the applicable Australian Standards), at prices well below traditional retail stores - usually 20-30% less and more where we can! We’ve been active in the online space for many years - saving our customers a lot of money on their purchases.

We do have rules here for business and in particular the Trade Practices Act. The comment about ” we can supply the right product (all of which comply with the Australian Standards)” must be false advertising. I am pretty certain that none of the lights listed or the batteries have been tested and approved under the Australia standard.
