I’m in search of a good soft but firm sleeve, tube, or bumper cap. The intention is to use it as a bite ring, but perhaps it could double as a diffuser cone as well.
SPECIFICALLY for an Emisar D3AA.
REQUIREMENTS:
Mouth and bite safe
Dimensions:
At least 2mm thick walls.
Inner diameter not to exceed 19mm, as the tailcap is 20mm nominal, and around 21.5mm with the knurling. Needs to be a snug, if not slightly tighter fit.
Internal depth must be at least 15mm, I can remove excess if necessary.
PREFERENCES:
Material: including, but not limited to, TPU, Silicone rubber, FKM, but MUST be bite and mouth safe.
Dimensions:
Shape wise, prefer a flattened cap shape, more similar to the Emisar’s stock tailcap form, a cylindrical cup. Domed cap is acceptable, but prefer a closed bottom to avoid saliva/bacteria buildup in the crevices if neglected. **sleeves are acceptable to facilitate usage of the magnet, but closed caps preferred as mentioned prior.
Color:
Medical red, or as close to Emisar Red as possible.
Black, clear, or most shades of gray are acceptable.
All other colors acceptable if the form factor only exists in that color.
Thanks in advance for your help and recommendations!
Could you use some large heat shrink tubing? It would be very firmly secured if you shrank it on, and is commonly available in a clear plastic. There are 20mm heat shrink end caps available which would secure firmly and also close off the end, but I’ve only seen black examples. Not 100% sure what they’re made of
I was looking at that too! I also wasn’t sure if that stuff would leech any teflon or anything like that if i bit on it after heatshrinking it…also, I’d prefer it to not be so permanent a solution in case I wanted or needed to take it off…
Bite safe could be any silicone rubber, but mouth/food safe I don’t think there really is any (we still use plastic and silicone in everything even though its toxic and bad for our health )
Heat shrink is somewhat permanent same as those handle/tennis racket handle wraps
Silicone Diffusers are one way
There are medical toe separators that maybe use a safer mouth material than the diffusers from aliexpress
Consider building a Voron from a kit. It’s fun, you get to know your printer inside and out instead of it being a mystery box, and you get to jump into the 3d printing ethos head first.
About filaments, TPU comes in different hardness, 85A, 95A, and less common harder types around ~60-75D, such as BASF ULTRAFUSE 64D (58D). I’d try a 95D TPU.
