OK… Since the purchase of my TK70. I am taking a hiatus from purchases till the new year. Non the less… I plan on bringing the new year in with a bang. Managing to weasel out about 5 bills ( hundred dollar ones ) for my January speeding spree.
Here’s my issue… Olight is coming out with that new super thrower… The Olight SR95s ut or something like that. Now I like all kinds of lights. I have been looking at the TN31, The BTU Shocker, The Elektro Lumens ST90 Search&Rescue, & the New Fenix TK 75.
My dilemma? The Olight will pretty much eat $500 if not more. BUT! I could get two, maybe even three of the other lights should I do just a bit of shopping.
The Olight will be the ultimate thrower… No doubt, but how far is far enough… And I really like the other lights mentioned. Any words of wisdom? 
I would go for a FireFox 3, it does around 230kcd running off 3 18650s.

HID worries me …I kinda like the LED’s. Do HID’s burn as long as LED’s. Are there any problems with HID’s? Like safety hazards or anything like that ?
bassturd for certain things, I guess I couldn’t pay $500 for a torch that might keep up with this but since I believe it’s only rated at 266Kcd it could be a dead heat - so to speak. No punt intended. 
I gotta tell ya though I have two permutations of Stanley lowly $ halogen spotlights and I’ll put em’ up against plenty of hot shot throwers on BLF without a quiver in me one good eye. :davie:
I figure at $70 if I didn’t like how it kicked-as* on my torch stable I could always return it and remain delusional and poorer or keep it and remain richer. H)
(Now y’all know I’m just kiddin’ round here. Those FF3’s especially look faboo.)
Certain I am getting… The TN31. I love my big lights. I want one just a bit smaller… Without compromising to much throw.
This is a segment-busting torch, and a bargain at $300. I would own one in a heartbeat.
I cant even find a place to buy them…

The thing is so bright you expect it to provide thrust. It’s 4 18650s and just ON or off, but runtimes are pretty good.
It’s terrific circuitry, amazing to watch it regulate itself and kick-down and still be f’n bright…
ahhh so thats where you can purchase the fire foxes…i couldnt find it anywhere. but thats only for the fire fox 2.
They’ve usually got the 3, the FF2 is on/off unobtanium.
Place gave me great service, but for $300 they should!!
It can give you a headache if you use it inside for long periods, probably the UV.
Whats so great about the FF3? Ive heard the name a few times but know very little about it

Some of the best minds in flashlightdom have been trying to beat the FF3 in a similar size for awhile….
It’s not precise, it’s a brute force beast.
It will attract every bug in your zip code.
But it is unbelievably bright in less than a beercan size. You expect it to recoil.
kinda torches is that if they really want to blow the rest of the competing field away why don’t they just stick on a 6” reflector and do it. Ok, maybe not 6”. Let’s go 5”. I mean I understand it would be cumbersome and look crazy-stubid with a beer can body behind it but hey if you want performance reflector size is the shizz when all’s said and done. And that’s why I mention those lowly $ Stanley’s. Their reflectors are big so they know how to extract it. And then ya look at all that wasted space behind their reflectors filled with air and you’re going, this could be pretty cool if was downsized a wagon load. But ok, I know they’re primarily spotlights. So I’m wondering who puts on the biggest reflector out there relative to tube size and would murder the field. I guess I’m not all that impressed cd-wise. Well actually I am impressed. Like what the FF3 does to the rest of those poseurs. I mean c’mon. Why manufacture stuff that gets its butt kicked that bad.
Yeah from that standpoint it’s worth $300 alright from what I can see. 8)

Ps. If the FF3 had even a 1” bigger diameter reflector apparently it would take an e-Bay 100W+ HID with a bigger a*s reflector itself to come close? I have to admit, that’s pretty amazing. Sh*t now I really want one. :nerd_face:
If you can’t decide, don’t decide at all! I always have this in my mind. It has saved me a lot from bad decisions, regrets. Sleep it over. It’s a happy problem, no need to hurry.

Keep in mind that HID have a warm up time and that one should respect a delay between turn ons, makes them a little bit less practical than leds in real world use.
The FF3 is fantastic, i have a dry that draws 5A, it looks like a zebralight H501 when compared to the FF3.
How long of a delay?
