I also noticed rough edges on cooling fins and tailcap chamfers on my prototype sample and suggested Sofirn (manufacturer) to improve the manufacturing process. However, it seems there’s little margin left to do some extra post-treatment to those things as FC11’s price needs to be kept very low.

Rough/sharp edges exist on all my Sofirn lights and I personally find it taints the experience. I know we’re talking budget lights, this is BLF after all, but I’d rather pay a little extra for nice chamfered edges.

there is a bug in ui: if turbo or strobe is accessed directly from off, long press activates last used mode. From that state, flashlight cannot be turned off and mode cannot be changed. Only action is double/tripple click to go back to turbo/strobe and then flashlight can be turned off,

there is a PWM detectable by phone camera (similar speed to bistro firmware),

high (~1.7A tailcap current) step down is after 5 minutes to 60% of initial high mode, which is almost equal to medium mode,

turbo (~3.9A tailcap current) step down is after 1 minute, lasts 30 seconds, so after 1:30 flashlight is on 20% of initial turbo mode, which is almost equal to medium mode,

standby: 1.41 mA initially, 0.03 mA (= 43 μA measured on different scale on my DMM) after few seconds,

eco: 7.67 mA

glass is not AR coated,

during charging flashlight can be turned on in low mode,

with charging cable connected flashlight can be turned on in low mode even without battery,

magnet is strong, flashlight can be attached to round pipe in horizontal position without an issue,

magnet in the tail is probably not glued and small rattle can be heard when flashlight is detached from a surface,

fins around head are rough,

tailcap lanyard hole area is also rough,

fc11 and convoy s2+ have the same size.

Overall pretty nice piece of lumens

I think I may just outright replace it. Even the CRI seems a few points less. I think they changed what they feed the dog

Don’t know if (known) bug or error with instruction manual.

In both modes, continuing to hold button from OFF does not do the intended action and instead switches between modes.

Excerpt from manual below.

Stepped mode:
From OFF, hold 1 second to Eco, then keep holding to cycle through stepped modes.

Ramping mode:
From OFF, hold 1 second to Eco, then keep holding will adjust brightness steplessly.

You could try with the front lens off in case an AR coating is affecting it.

From what I’ve found, the bug is only when the flashlight is in stepped mode. I don’t have this problem when in ramping.

Received the FC11 today. Battery is charging, so I am currently using a Samsung 35E protected button top to test out the light. Liking it a lot so far. The magnetic tail cap is pretty strong…

Here it is stuck to the Real Steel Flying Shark. I even moved the blade around a bit, but the FC11 held on.

This flashlight is pretty amazing for the price. I am very happy with it. But is there any special handling of the battery necessary?

This has been my EDC since I received it. It has a great (for me) UI, and a nice beam. Its easy to carry… it has never accidentally turned on in my pocket. The light is usable… good temp, no tint, high CRI. It has C-C charging that works. Its a really nice flashlight. My only wish is that the side switch was lit when the light is turned off.

Hi everyone! This is my first hi CRI flashlight and I really love it for a beautiful 4000k tint. I’ve got it also to have more sophisticated ui than standard commonly used ‘lo-med-hi’ in many cheap flashlights. I own it for like 4-5 months and have mainly positive emotions from usage.

However I’ve got some bugs that frustrating me a little:

1. Low voltage red light starts blinking at something like 3.9-3.8 Volts. It seems to me that this is clearly more than it should be. This problem occurs with any cell I have, even with standard Wurkkos 3000mAh 18650. This problem was from the very beginning and is not that awful.

2. Turned on flashlight sometimes won’t turn off untill you either change brightness or activate turbo or strobe. Especially if the flashlight was on for a longer than 5~10 minutes. This problem started to bother me about a month or so ago.

3. Memorized brightness level falls to eco after you turn flashlight in eco mode from off (with long press). Like if you turned off on middle level, then long press to eco, then turn off, then turn on again and ‘taa-daa’ you’re in eco again.This problem has appeared quite recently and is really disturbing.

I have to admit that it is a ‘new version’ of the fc-11 model.

If you have any ideas of how to make this bugs gone, it would be really nice!

However I believe that all these problems are refer to my own instance only and hopefully will not occur anymore else.

In any case I’m really thinking to get myself 2700k version though.

Whenever a light starts going mental, check allllll the retaining rings.

If one’s loose, tighten it. If they’re all tight, loosen them, jiggle the board to make sure it seats correctly, then retighten.

You have no idea how many mental lights were fixed by just doing that.

Thanks for the hint! The hack is that this flashlight hasn’t got any retaining rings inside. The driver as well as a bezel seems to be glued.

All I can do is to clean contacts.

The flashlight did not fall or sink, no dust inside, cell wrap isn’t damaged, nothing moves or dangles inside…

Never mind! That’s not that big problems for the 25 bucks light.
