interesting 1 or 2 li ion driver

I cant see any suggestion of a drop in output current on one cell on this, it looks like there are resistors to play with too, anyone tried one yet? I’m going to order one for my l2 I think.

gords. I believe you should be buying two of these and send one my way so we can do some objective testing. You have my address so I will look forward to receiving this in the mail in a couple off weeks. This should provide interesting reading. Thanks.

I got two of these in the mail Yesterday. I haven’t decided what to do with them yet.

Ouchy, Can you get a pic showing a hint of what is in between the boards?
If these boards perform well, they could be what I need for my ZY-T08 MT-G2 build to get the cells back in parallel.

This sounds very interesting. Im looking forward to your test results. Lets hope they perform as advertised.

Here's some quickies from an ipad. If this works for you, I want to hear about it. I'm in the mood to build something different.

I thought you were running your L2 at four Amps?

Thanks Ouchy. I like the concept, only issue would be heat I guess. I cannot identify if this is a buck-boost or just buck driver. Not useful in one cell mode if only buck. Boost-buck would drive any emitter I would say.

In sent an email to Hank. I’ll let you know.

ouchy I do plan to get up to 4a but foe now I’m at 3a, im pretty sure this driver can be resistor/pot tweaked for a smidge more output.

it does however look a good bet for xm-l/xp-g based 1/2 cell lights.

Previous thread about this driver.

Hank said it would not work with the MT-G2 when Ohoya contacted him.

Would be nice if this thread got the “LD-2C” name in the title. Maybe this could be the “official thread”. No need in having a bunch of different threads with random headlines about the same driver…

Darnit!! :_(

I’ll edit it later, no worries

Hank says, “It’s a buck driver. (step-down)”.

That’s what I figured. Not overly useful for single cell lights, as the Vf will start dropping it out very early. As it is a buck, there’s another 0.3V or so eaten by the blocking diode.
LD29 works in a similar way. The driver is still flexible, it’s just not going to maximize output on a singe cell.

I was more thinking if it still gives 3a on single cell, it would be ok for my convoy l2 (26650) if I felt like running it shorty, most of the time I’d run it in two cell mode which is how its built now, yoy just usually seem to get a drop in current on these 1 or 2 cell drivers.

My LD29 2.8A outputs 2.8A until 3.60V cell input, I would assume something similar for that driver.

hikelite, is your ld-29 from intloutdoor, lck-led or fasttech? one place I wish to use this is in a defiant 3c, so it can use either 3c, 1 x 18650/26650 or 2 x 18650/26650 depending on spacer, I’ll be using a high cri xm-l2 in that one.

It's from IOS, bought a long time ago, about when they first showed up.

ah, well, hopefully this one will prove to be a decent sibling, I do like the ld series drivers.
