Yesterday, I recieved a much anticipated package. It contained some 380ma 7135 chips, a couple of 3.04a drivers, two nw xm-l2’s :heart_eyes: and two replacement 4a drivers. :heart_eyes:
I decided, my c8 upgrade host assembled earlier in the month really needed to have two of these items to elevate it from “meh” to 8)
The drivers work properly and i’m liking the xm-l2 nw too.
Unfortunately, I don’t have my camera set up right, the hotspots too intense and it looks cw, in person its perfect.
I’m using an op reflector as my smo ones gave too ringy a beam. I would say that for now, this is the ultimate c8 as far as I’m concerned.

Looks nice Gords! The 3.04A Nanjg drivers from I-O should be downloadable (ATMEL Tiny13A), unlike the KD V2. Only thing they are so much cheaper at Fasttech now - some of my regular buys have been switching over from I-O, it's ashame - like Hank's service. I did just order the I-O 7 LED driver for my J18 though...
I ordered the USB programmer and 8 pin clip for the Tiny13A, hoping I can download drivers like Dr. Jones latest "lupodrv", but have to find out if the FastTech Nanjg drivers are programmable, should be but I hear not all Tiny13A's are.
I got a few more LED's in from IS - there shipping times are great!
I might have to have a go at programming, although it’ll be entirely new to me, I’m no computer wizz, would be nice to be able to program a 5 mode moonlight to insanelight driver though.
I’m happy to stick with intloutdoor myself, they’ve been good to me, but I do tend to add fasttech links for people.
You’d like this c8 upgrade, its got all the right bits and a nice deep pill so stacking is no issue at all. I do really like the beam from the op reflector, was just a bit bummed about my original drivers not being good, dropping back to a 3 mode nanjg was an anticlimax. I also wasn’t taken with the 3b xm-l I’d fitted, it was bought to assess the tint, its stable, but too white, it’ll end up in a build for someone, no problem.
I just wish I could get the settings right on my phone camera, I just wasn’t up for playing in –2c just to get a beam shot, plus I had another light to fault find, and tidy up before Mrs gords lost her rag, I’ve been busy tonight. :bigsmile:
I'm a systems software/firmware guy for 30+ years, a lot of C code, so that's the easy part, but this is the first time for me working with PIC controllers - I started with 8 bit micros, spent a lot of time in embedded systems with debuggers, emulators, simulators, scopes, etc., but always had help/support with the hardware. Right now I'm working with some pretty good EE's so could get help there. I ordered these:
So for $35 w/shipping, in theory, I think this is all I need. The rest is software that's downloaded free. I'll probably just use Dr. Jones's driver, think it's lupodrv, because that has fully progammable modes - sounds like you can do anything you want with it. Main thing I want is pretty much what you are describing 5 modes, super low to super high, maybe some lights I'd prefer in 1 or 2 modes, but at least I can give friends/relatives any mode setup they want.
