Is this a bad idea??

I was curious to know what would happen if I took a 2-channel D4sV2–12amp driver and wired both negatives to a single channel MCPCB…would it work and if so are both combined for a total of 24amps…or would it all get smoked

Its a good question, I’m curious to know as well. From a practical point of view it might be easier to cut the traces on the mcpcb to make it dual channel, then just wire up the two halves separately, but I recognise this doesn’t really answer your question.

If you connect them in parallel, you’ll be delivering the current of both. You will get less output than just connecting the FET channel if the FET is enabled on your firmware. If the FET isn’t enabled, you will get more current to the LEDs, but chances are you’ll burn them out because the current is set at what it is for a reason, especially with more fragile LEDs - if an LED can’t take FET it won’t be able to take 24A linear either.
