Is this a good idea? (supfire m6 vs TR-J18)

I’ve been lurking for a while here and just wanted some opinions.

Couple years ago, I got a TR-J18 and modded it with a KD driver. It’s currently powered by a set of 26650 TF Flames. I love this light… has the “ooooaaahhhh” power on high and is very usable on low and mid.

Fast forward a couple of years…… we had a long power outage a couple weeks back and it got me thinking about lights again. Ordered a pile of ICR18650 26 FM batteries and then saw the supfire M6 modded by Richards.

I don’t NEED another big light, the J18 has enough guts for anything I need…. but I would “like” another one… haha. Also catching my attention is the super “low” mode… perfect for when the power is out and your conserving battery power, combined with the ability to tail stand safely. The J18 with 3 batteries is really tall and kinda scary on it’s tail.

I’ve read the reviews, but have a few questions…… and feel free to chime in with any suggestions. (or make me justify my purchase… haha).

  1. Compared to the KD modded J18. Is the modded M6 any brighter? M6 is rated at 4000lm, J18… no clue…… (rofl… 8000 lm according to the light tube… not even close after being modded, not to mention stock…)
  2. How are the beam pattern differences? I know the J18 is very floody, but with so much power behind it, it throws the beam just as far as my single T6 Small Sun light.
  3. Big question here, will the M6 run with the protected samsung batteries I purchased ? (and for safety reasons I don’t want to run un-protected cells).

Thanks.
