Is this a normal beam pattern for triple s2+?
I built a triple s2+ with 219c,A6 driver,10507 Carclo Lens. I left the glass lens in.It has a purple ring kinda three purple dots around the outer edge of the hot spot.
I have never noticed this. Could you possibly post a picture?
Hi fatboy,
I think if you can post a picture, those of us who are more of a Visual Learner might have more of a clue.
They say a picture paints a thousand words.
Cheers,
S-L
I will try to get a decent picture with my phone. Then do i have to sign up for a image hosting site?
nope, just use imgur.com and grab the “direct link” for your image. it’s free.

This kind of what I see the led on top is more pronounce.
That’s fairly normal, what cell are you using? I ask because the 219C can pull a LOT of current from a top cell, the S2+ isn’t the light for 3 of the 219C as they just make too much heat if using a top cell. I put 3 in a Sinner copper 18650 and it pulls 17A+. This is a full copper light, and it still heat’s up really fast.
When looking at almost any of em as close as you are there, you’re gonna see some artifacts and discolorations. Not very often we’re going to use 2000 lumens at 6’ distance, try backing off and looking at some real world scenario’s, a tree in the yard at 20-30 yds distant, something like that.
She’s Hot She’s Fun She’s unpredictable
I was going to wait for RMM Driver with atyiny25 with thermal
I’ll try again 480 by 480
This light is a monster flooder, when that close to a wall I would suspect the artifacts are indeed normal. I built around the narrow unfrosted optic and when I am that close it almost has a hint of a 3 leaf clover. Mine is based upon a FET driver and with all springs bypassed and a 30Q I am pulling about 8.25 amps! I did expect a little more, but my meter may be letting me down. Wow, they crank!!!

O come on dale a flashlight drawing to many amps
The purple is in there at low amps also. It kinda messes with the reason for a Nichia. I’m just checking to see if maybe If x something up. It sounds like maybe I did’t.

fatboy, I put 4 Nichia 219C in my Titanium X6 with an FET driver… it runs best on an LG HE-2 at 21.1Amps. (4278 lumens)
With the triple mcpcb, it’s kinda hard to mess up. The optics are aligned with the emitters, the Nichia’s fit under them with no problem, so I am unsure as to what could be causing the problem.
ive orderd the same but was only going to run about 4a, not enough ?
4 amps is enough… saves heat. I built for the wow factor!
Wow factor is good
I like using 7 levels so there’s enough to play with and keep a reasonable check on cell drain/heat. Might not use Turbo for much other than that WOW! factor but it’s nice to have there and easy enough to not use it as needed.
That’s also why I really love the reversing UI, you don’t have to cycle through a retina searing Turbo to get back to lower modes, just reverse. I also use a ramping UI quite often, with 64 levels and reversing it’s really easy to get the amount of light you need without going overboard.
BLF A6 from TK, like to stay out of turbo unless I want to wow. I love that firmware, wish I could use it on qlites.
Should be able to, sort of. Wight made a driver he called the PZL, short for puzzle. The labeling on the driver telling where to put the components is all under the MCU, so if you put the MCU on first, it’s a puzzle sorting out where everything else goes! It’s got a separate 7135 chip for moon, and 7 more 7135’s for the remaining power. We could check with TK and see if she could implement the A6 firmware to work on the PZL framework, then we’d have the features of the A6 in a 3.04A driver. Interesting…
I like to use the PZL for smallish lights that I’m putting big emitters in, an effort at sanity I suppose. I’ve got an MT-G2 in an Eagle Eye X6 with the PZL driver, it runs on a pair of 18350’s and has a nice 35mm TIR optic. Sweet light!
