is this a new led 36.5 lumen's from a 5mm http://www.zexstar.com/leduri/leduri-de-5mm/p964/led-5mm-nichia-nsdw570gs-36.5lm-120-alb/
I only see a description for 20 lumen - what am I missing?
16.5 lumens.........sorry, couldnt resist!!
I walked RIGHT into that one...... :)
maybe it can handle more than 50ma?
I have a thing for little tiny lights that use 5mm leds. Whether in the brim of a hat, in the head of a lighter, or whatever...
I'd go nuts on my collection of that junk if I could find a bunch of really good emitters. It has been awhile since I read the CPF thread on testing all that was available, but don't they top out at like 6 lumen?
3.5V (max) * 0.040A (max) = 0.14W, not 0.28
at 151 lm/W, 0.14W = 21 lumens
and it’s quite suspicious that the lumen and current ratings are identical.
Update: Found Nichia’s data sheet (www.leds.de/out/media/15031.pdf)
Max rating is 80mA at 3.7V; the 36.5 lumen rating is the top end of the highest available flux bin (min. 30.5 lumens) at 70mA.
Hmm after looking at these further I wouldnt mind having a few to play with. Question is where to get thats ships to the US?
30 lumen at 70mA ?
So a one-amp driver could power ~14 of these for between 420 and 500 lumen ?
Holy floody output, Batman ! A one-cell light and a 2.8A driver with 1200-1400 lumen?
Wow. Time to break out the showerheads.
Shower head indeed.
That 109 LED flashlight would be ridiculous if loaded with these (109 x 36.5 =3978.5 ) Umm, how much are these Nichia LED's going for anyway?
I'd love to know too, I'd guess the lumen/$ is much lower than xml - and they'll only be economical for small projects...
wish these bastards were cheaper
Something like 1.80ish per superflux led.
I need 2 or 3 tubes of them right now.
Need to locate a place in the states that has them.
At that rate there will be no super shower head anytime soon.
Might be a good update for a solitaire or similar.
I think there are some new super strong 5mm LEDs about already and I think I've got one by chance.
I received another 10 pack of keychain lights this week, this batch from KD. One of the lights is AMAZING. Unlike any I have had before. It throws a hard edged crisp beam with visible hotspot and spill. Its obviously not as strong as a P60 XPG with OP reflector but the beam profile is similar as regards beam edge and hotspot definition. You would think it was thrown from a reflector not just a 5mm LED. The beam has a cold (blue to purple) tint hotspot transitioning to a markedly warm spill.
What is most surprising is that it is to the eye many times brighter than any normal keychain light and also to the eye nearly half as bright as a Black Cat when both are at 2m. I have no way of measuring lumens but comparing it to lights I have which I know the approx output of I'd say its damn close to or possible over 20lm.
BTW this was the only one like it in the 10 pack and literally made me gasp when I first tested it.
