I have found a P60 dropin on eBay, which is a short-wavelength UV emitter. This will be used for looking for cat pee inside the house!
I thought that if I bought a suitable host, I could swap dropins, and use it as a normal flashlight for most of the time, rather than having a dedicated UV flashlight.
So, I’ve been looking at solarforce L2T, L2P, (frankly, I can’t tell the difference - can anyone explain?), and L2N (newest, I think).
I’d like a reasonable quality host (some of the ones on manafont etc are dirt cheap, but look cheap - shiny finish etc, they just look cheap!), anything up to solarforce prices ($25 for empty host).
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
I will also need a 3-mode warm white dropin, was just looking on fasttech, they have one that looks good, but are sold out! Anyone seen anything else around?
Anything from SolarForce will do the trick really. Just pick a host you like the look of and go from there. My personal favorite is the L2m as it can be used with either 18650 or 18350 cells, so you can have a nice small host or a regular sized host. It also depends on what sort of voltage your 2 drop-ins require. Because of the modular battery tube the L2m allows the use of 1xCR123, 2xCR123s, 1x 18350, 2x18350 or 1x18650. It also come with a sleeve to fit 16xxx sized batteries!
I was sitting on the wall when it came to P60 lights. I finally went for it after I saw Foys review on the P1D. I truly love this host. I think it’s the finest Solarforce P60 to date. I may yet get an L2P, but this P1D is not to be trifled with in the build department. HAIII and good looks to beat the band, the P1D is like no other.
I have 2 Solarforce L2N's and a Solarforce L2P. They are very nice. I would probably go with the L2P for a few bucks extra because of the higher quality switch.
I don't recommend the L2m unless you actually plan to use 18350 in it at some point. If you're only going to use 18650, get the L2N or L2P. I look at my L2m with an 18650 in it and I always wish I had just gotten a regular L2 instead.
Concerning the host question, just pick anything from solarforce that you think looks good. I love my L2P, and I happen to like my P1 too, it's really something different.
I'm interested in that dropin you mentioned, what wavelength is it?
I bought the 395nm UV drop-in from Ebay and was very disappointed. Very dim and weak UV light.

Also bought this Manafont generic UV and it was much brighter. I am using 1 18650 battery with my lights.

On my testing the 395 nm does better with various bodily fluids than the 385 or 365 nm. Also, you want to get some yellow shooters glasses (they work better than the orange ones) to enhance the contrast.
Get an L2T, they look so cool and have the best looking design IMO, in particular the knurled head. I’ve got 2 of them and my L2M is collecting dust. I agree with what a previous poster advised, only get the L2M if you’re considering using smaller batteries.
