Currently the Jetbeam HC20 on a special at gearbest.com, the discount price is UK£17.03 (€23.13, US$25.89, AU$36.50). They say that it is a “Discount : 54% OFF”, and that the regular price is “£36.99”, though I have seen it cheaper than £36.99 for quite some time, £17.03 sounds like a reasonable price. Apparently a 2600mAh 18650 battery is included. I think the special offer ends in about three days.
I have ordered one. Though I don’t know if that was wise. So far I have mostly been disappointed with the 18650 headlamps that I have bought. The Crelant CH10 has a nice beam, but I hate the interface, as there is not a one click way to get from ON to OFF. The rubber bracket on my Xtar H3 started to fail within the first two weeks, and its beam has an extremely yellowish tint. The only 18650 headlamp I don’t regret spending my money on is a Rayfall H1LR. The Rayfall web site is a greater work of fiction than War and Peace, but in spite of the H1LR not showing any sign of being regulated as claimed, and the claimed beam range of 148m seeming to be a bit optimistic, this is good long throw lamp that gets very good runtimes out of a battery, but a small bright spot and relatively weak spill, mean that the Rayfall is not an electricians light, it is strictly geared towards long range.
Any way I’ll soon see if the Jetbeam HC20 is any good, or just another waste of money. The link for the Jetbeam HC20, is:
I thought people might like to know that there was a bargain to be had. If I have done anything wrong, I apologise. It was not my intention to break any rules.
The Crelant CH10 has two brightness modes (+ strobe & SOS), each brightness mode has stepless adjustment. When you turn the CH10 on, it starts in mode-1, a second click takes it to mode-2, and a third click turns it off. There is no way to turn it OFF directly from mode-1. From mode-1 you must enter mode-2, before you can turn it off.
I hate this! I always want a one click (or long press) way to turn off, without having to cycle through another mode. Perhaps this is just a pet hate, and it may not bother you.
I’m assuming the Jetbeam HC20 has similar beam characteristics to the The Crelant CH10, but has a one click OFF.
P.S.
Another thing I dislike about the CH10 is that when you insert a battery, the lamp always turns on immediately at maximum brightness, before the switch is pressed, and irrespective of the state of the switch. When a battery is inserted, if the lamp is pointing towards someone close at hand, it will at the least cause temporary blindness.
None of my other lamps do this, only the Crelant CH10.
