Junk batteries from FastTech

I bought this battery pack less than a year ago it didn’t come with correct end to fit my light and so it sat in my closet since. This week I decided I would finally replace the end so I could finally use my light. This pack was brand new and just sat in my closet and wasn’t charged with the useless chargers that bike lights come with. I charged it with a hobby charger. I tried 4 times and was getting errors. So I decided to unwrap the pack to see what was going on. Holy crap this what I found.

This is the pack I ordered https://www.fasttech.com/products/1347107

That’s a bummer!
So did you learn anything? Like not buy unknown battery packs?

The problem was i needed something with a compatible end to match up to the light. Ya trying to do it the easy way I guess never pays off.

You would think there would be a universal standard for the ends all this propitery stuff is useless.

Whether it’s battery packs or software licenses, shrinkwrap hides many evils.

That is a dangerous pack you have there. Please dispose of it properly (recycle) before it causes you much bigger problems.

Yeah, I often wonder how many time bombs like this are stashed forgotten long ago in people’s closets and junk drawers

i wonder how many of those are dirt filled dummy cells.
dummies!

I tested a pack like that. The capacity rating was 8.4 volts, 6400mAH, that means each cell should have been 3200mAH.

Actual capacity was 1000mAh per cell making the pack 8.4 volts, 2000mAH.

Lol I hope none, now I kinda wanna take it apart further. I’d be a new kind of pissed off if I found dirt cells. |(
