Just Bought My First HID Flashlight

I blame my buddy scaru on this one. We have been chatting some today via pm. And he just had to bring up I need to explore the world of HID. Well he got me on my journey very quickly after our talk. I hope it’s a good one. Thanks scaru. And that is cheaper than I had hoped to spend.

that you’ve accumulated and ya get real depressed, I’ll alleviate your downer by offering right now to buy all of them from you $0.10 on the dollar. You’re gonna get disgusted seeing them just sit there with nothing to do but collect dust while they get their a*ses kicked by that big honkin’ HID. So ya might as well sell em’.

Way to goooooooo there, Dr. Phil Scaru. :open_mouth:

Well I hope it’s what some guys have been telling me it will be. I think I got a pretty good buy on it. $101.82 shipped was less than I was hoping to spend for a first HID light. Now I just got to wait.

cant say i didnt see this coming… seen you come buying up all the lights i wish i could have bought, and surprised your just now getting an HID…
hope you love it

thrown away because ya listened to some big fat guy in a diaper. :open_mouth:

ill tell ya what, he offers $.010 on the dollar… i got $0.08 on the dollar, and no i told you so or any back talk involved :money_mouth_face:

Hey that’s my buddy your talking about.

I figured if I can talk scaru into buying a nice camera he could at least talk me into buying a good HID flashlight. LOL!

There’s no such thing as a good HID flashlight. They are all evil son’s of Satan and will kill you and your puppies while you sleep. Or at least pee in your beer. Trust me, I know.

It’s gonna take $1900 more when you get the Maxa Beam. :money_mouth_face:

That looks like the same kit I have. It’s wonderful and will really impress you. No problems in over 1.5 years, although I must admit its a shelf queen. I’m almost certain it hasn’t ran more than an hour total. But it’s impressed many folks in that hour. Enjoy!

P.s. I believe I paid in the 140-150 shipped range early 2011?

Well, that’s the natural evolution of life in this world…because if not, then you are deteriorating hehehe

Wow. And I thought my TK70 was big. Thank goodness I have zero interest in HID lights…

1747 grams = 3.85147572 pounds

So just a little heavier than a Olight SR90 which weighs 3lbs. 7oz.

I can’t wait to light that barn up at 445yds.

Listen to them,,,its true, This g-d d--m StanleyHID is a problem and half. Its a brutal beam, the tint? There's no tint its ultra white, UW. You know what? i dropped it today..i swore i heard glass smash, it didn't. I don't think it will take another light fall to the floor, and that's enough for me to place in the Ultra bright Hunk of S--t bin...So what if its brighter than most of my LED torches..

I’ve got the same one. Its very impressive but the throw really isn’t all that compared to what many will say. The head is too small on it :frowning:

Sure it’ll light stuff up a long way away but I am 100% certain that mine is beaten at a distance by the TN31 - I would be willing to put money on this I’m that confident.
I will demo this tonight at about 700ft and post pictures. - sure at 700ft the TN31 puts a blob on what it hits and the HID lights up the object you are pointing it at and the neighbours house etc etc.

You wont be disappointed but I will be getting a bigger headed HID at some point

Oh and make sure you don’t “LOCK” it on low power. You can do this by clicking the power button 5 or 6 times, it will go through the colours when you do this and when you leave it on the first one it will only go to low power, do it again and go one more click and it’ll go to the second power mode etc. If you just use ON and then up the power levels you wont encounter this but it is rather annoying thinking you’ve got a flat battery when you turn it on and it wont go past low power.

I wouldn’t mind betting money that an eBay HID will out-throw a TN31.

The dinky headed ones for sure don’t - maybe mine just has a rubbish tight beam.
I should say that MY one isn’t as throwy

Probably, but to be sure, take an underexposed picture of both hotspots side by side. The HID SHOULD be around twice as intense.

Congrats ILF! Now let's see those beamshots. :D

ILF I hope you can compare it with your other high end XMLs. For me it’s roughly 2X the flood of my J12 and 2X the brightness at 300m of my X6. IMO well worth it since ballast and extra batteries are cheap. To think we woulda spent 400+ dollars on this HID 2 years ago.
