Well I know it's not really that budget, but a few people have one. I picked up the neutral PA40. The tint is perfect, and this light oozes quality. It does have a few short-comings, but it still is one sweet 4 aa light. I guess I can add this to my collection of XML lights that I now have....My excuse for this purchase is that it may be another XML, but it's in 4 aa format. Great run-times.
Does anyone else like their PA40? What do you use the light for?
I think you'll be happy. It came with a smooth reflector. Hopefully you used bugoutgear's jetbeam coupon to save 15 percent. I paid about 69 dollars, shipped.
I bought mine from hkequipment on eBay for $74.95 or so, nothing agaisnt bugoutgearusa as I have never bought from them but shipping to Australia is $15.95 with the cheapest method so not good for me.
Looking forward to playing with it, Ill have to start doing new things just to get some use out of it.
That's right. You have a PA-40, Trooplewis. I haven't tested alkalines yet. I threw in some duraloops...I need to find some alkalines and and see. I bought a shiningbeam caveman neutral a few months ago and wound up gifting it because of the blue tint. I was suprised to see that in a neutral and usually shiningbeam has decent tints, as I have another xml neutral p-rocket and it has a nice tint like this pa-40.
I'm going to use mine as a beater light when long runtimes are needed. With the carbon fiber/plastic body, I won't have to sweat dinging the light up too bad. Also, with the lanyard it's really easy to tail-stand. One of my gripes is the lack of strobe, as it really comes in handy when I'm walking the dog in areas with a lot of traffic. It is the perfect dog walking light aside from that.
I don't have one yet, have been debating whether I want to spend another $75 on a flashlight and if I do will it be the PA40 or a King. The King would probably be something I would just use for showing off, no real need for it...but I won't buy the PA 40 if it has disappointing performance on alkalines.
I have PA40W. I did not like the UI at first, but after using it a while I love it. Nice spacing, and as you noted, great run times + a lot of light! I run XX"s in mine. Great light with high quality. Oh, and the tint is perfect for me.
