Just pulled the trigger on my first solarforce =)

I was looking around for a new flashlight that would not leave my wallet shivering in the shower, crying. I saw the l2 over at solarforce-sales and figured, "why not". I went with the " New L2 2011 version with 3 mode XM-L T6" This will be my first solar force light and I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands in this thing =). If anyone has this same model or the same drop in in a different host, I'd like to hear from ya! Also, I got a pair of the solar force brand 18650s to toss into her when she arrives, so i hope that those are good too. ( I have some ultrafire 18650 batteries, but those seem to be a bit of a "crap shoot" as far as quality goes.)

Until this thing gets here, I will just have to be content to drool over the pics around here.

Cheers!

Howdy Jaygnar,

Welcome to BLF, you are going to meet a LOT of people with that invititation. I don't think that you will regret this forum or choosing Solarforce lights.

later,

Welcome!

I have L2 2011, very nice, I think it´s the best SF so far...

Remember to wrap the dropin for better heat transfer!

Solarforce dropins might not get the absolute highest amperage draw and thus not be the absolute brightest but IMO the difference to eye is not all that huge + it gets you more runtime and you can get away a bit from thermal sag of output...

I predict that the thread title will prove to be true, and that this will be your first of MANY Solarforce lights!

Drool makes her light up

Thanks for the replies guys! What do I wrap the drop in with? Like Aluminum foil??

EDIT: Googled it and I found that people are using soda can pieces, copper tape and thermal compound as well as my first guess (aluminum foil). So I will try the soda can method first and maybe aluminum foil :)

My first SF light was the 2011 L2 2 months ago...since then i've ordered 2 more lights and random peices from them :D. Their lights are awesome!

As for heat transfer, I use aluminum foil wrapped around the bulb drop in and also add computer thermal paste around the led where it screws into the reflector :)

Congrats......you will love it since the drop in is so easily changeable, Mr Foy did a review on the L2x and i hope to get it sometime this month. Some of my SF lights....hope to add the X soon to my collection. Did you get any upgrades like a bezel down clip or the two way clip to go along with your light.

And for heat transfer i used a red bull can and just cut it into strips and wrapped it around the drop and placed it into the body tube.

And i also blame Don for getting me into drop in hosts.......lol.

That's good to know!

I don't have any drop in module lights, so i guess I'll have to wait and see how the whole thing is put together, but the thermal paste sounds like a good idea. I'm always a fan of any mod that makes a good thing even better! Cheers!

@ Alfredddajero- Thanks! I was holding off on the accessories since I'm on a strict budget, I'm sure that I will get around to ordering all kinds of parts and stuff in the future though! To be honest, my wallet kind of likes the long(er) shipping times from overseas. Having something on the way keeps me from spending cash that I really need to be saving in the meantime. \

I know it's kinda pathetic but if it helps me control my spending....... =)

Dude i know what you mean, I have plenty of lights so i try to hold off on getting something that i really want.

alfreddajero, where can you get the 2-way clip? Seems everywhere I look , it is sold out.
