K50 V2 or x40 or K40m

Dear all,

I have the SRA40 and saw that it is not enought in long distance. And I was blinded by the wide spill. So I look for some thing brighter and more on the thrower side. What would you recommand of this three and were to buy it for the best prize.

In my view:
The K50 V2 is probably too concentrated so I see only a small light point wanderdering around. And a little lumen weak.

The x40 is now much more expensive than under supbeam (89 EUR) probably to much spill and seems less powerfull in pictures than the K40M even this is not right from the technical side, but it looks like on the pictures.

The K40M has no charging unit. But is probably the best compromise. But the prize is gone up.

Best regards to all.
Frank

The K50V2 does indeed have a very tight beam, much tighter than the X40.

The X40 and K40M are essentially the same as far as total lumens output, however the K40m does it with a single LED, and a relatively large reflector, the X40 uses 3 LED’s, and has 3 relatively small reflectors, so the X40 will have a much wider beam and more spill than the K40M.

Width x depth ratio tells you much more about the spill than just the size of the reflector. X40 has wider spill because of overlapping reflectors which olso means that it isn’t perfectly smooth. K40M has one more advantage - neutral tint. It makes spill less intrusive to your eyes. Altough it’s still crazy bright compared to ~900lm flashlight like SRA40. If you want more throw but not more spill you should go with K50 because more lumens=brighter spill.

If you want a concentrated beam with less spill, get K50 V2.
If you want more range, but still want to light up a wide area, get K40M.

Short answer. K40M unless you need very good range. Then its K50 for you.

Good answer: Check out this thread. All three lights are well compared and documented (along with several others).
