I recently bought this driver from kaidomain with hopes of using it in a 3x xm-l2 Maglite. I wired it up to my test xml and got nothing. I tried with 1, 2 and 3x18650 but no luck. I tested the led out wires with my DMM and there is no voltage.
Anybody have any experience with this driver? Maybe some close up shots to compare so I can try and trouble shoot?
I contacted Kaidomain and sent pictures but they are no help. They keep asking me to make a video showing the problem…a video…really? As if a video would help them see more clearly that the led’s receive zero voltage. Plus they would probably ask me to go out and buy a new camcorder since all I have to record video is my iphone.
Its probably the same driver as this one from IOS. "many" have it, I used to have one. Btw, its cheaper from IOS, and their customer support is IMO around 100 times better than KD.
Showing a video is not that unusual. If you are able to setup the driver in some sort of bench setup where you see all the wiring then it makes everything easier, and it will better show that there is not just a simple error with a connection in the light or something.
Hopefully you can just make a video and they will deal nicely with the problem. I wish you the best of luck though (you might need it since you are dealing with KD).
I bought that same driver. I tried to build a triple out of it too. It’s a piece of crap. it does 3amps for about 45 seconds then gets hot and scales back the current to about 1.5A.
I ended up using a 7135 based driver and the “download multi-lux” technique to power it.
