I received my KD C8M3T2 last week, but for some reason the memory doesn’t stay as it should.
Most of the time it comes back on high, as I turn it off on high all the time. But occasionally it comes on in the 2% mode, which is unbelievably low. The time between off/on can be many hours.
Am I somehow toggling a UI I’m not aware of, changing the memory configuration ?
I'm not sure which driver is in the KD C8, but most, if not all, Convoy C8's have ON-time memory. That means the light must be turned on and in the mode you want to be memorized for X seconds (usually ~3 seconds).
So if you turn it on and use it in medium then scroll to high and immediately shut it off it will be come back on in the mode AFTER high.
Dude, I think you possibly nailed it. I noticed the modes go low-med-high-med-low.
And I only use low and high.
So not stopping to store the mode, then turning it off right away would explain the 2% turn on.
It’s odd, I’m used to mode-off, and low-med-high-low-med-high toggling. Trippy.
Cheers !
It is a bit weird. I've got a lot of qlite/105c drivers with on-time memory so I've basically programmed myself to either shut it off in the previous mode, or wait the 3sec in the mode I want to memorize (most of the time High).
That's one huge plus about E-switch lights. Most have shortcuts to Turbo or moon mode and an instantaneous memory so you don't have to deal with that.
No doubt it’ll become second nature, until I fire-up the Courui with mode off memory again. Lol.
Luckily my other C8 is one mode high. No worries of a memory lapse there, either me, or the light
There is memory function for the KD C8M3T2. If you stay the the mode for more than 3 secs, it will memorize the current mode.
This flashlight is using KD V2 driver. It is designed by our engineering for some times ago.
Below is the video to show how to change the mode for KD C8M3T2
Our aims is let people won’t accidentally change the mode. Every time when you need to change the mode, press twice to enable the change mode function. And then change to next mode.
Please let me know more about the comment for the KD C8 flashlight and we can keep improving the flashlight.
That explains the double-tap I sometimes have to do after I turn it on.
I will have to say though, its pretty difficult to accidentally change mode, especially with a tail switch.
I am very happy with it, side by side with my XM-L2 C8, the XPL-HI certainly out throws it, although the beam divergence is a tad more than expected - the beam tint is a very ‘crisp’ white, I like it.
I have lights with very similar on time memory. The problem is that I do in fact change modes accidentally because I sometimes use the flashlight momentarily for less than the memorization time. When I turn the light back on the mode will advance when I don’t want it to advance.
Most of my flashlights use fast off-time memorization. I very rarely experience unexpected mode changes with fast off-time memorization. Off time memory does not require a double press to enable the mode change function. I can’t think of any advantages that on-time memory has over fast off-time memory.
