anyone among us know someone who is affected by the recent Kentucky tornado (was it just one gigantic beast)? praying that friends and families are unharmed!!

My family knows a family in Kentucky.
They had tornado warnings, but luckily their town did not get hit by a tornado.
It was the worst tornado in Kentucky history, and tornados like that usually do not hit in December.
An old friend & fellow vintage motorcycle enthusiast lives on a farm outside of Sedalia, KY, very close to Mayfield. Mayfield is the county seat Graves County, Kentucky.
As we now know, Mayfield took a direct hit from the tornadoes, resulting in an as-yet unknown number casualties and widespread damage. The historic county courthouse is very seriously damaged; the dome is simply gone. Many homes & businesses destroyed in town and the surrounding vicinity. A significant fraction of Mayfield is simply gone.

I spoke to him very early Sat. morning. He, his wife and son are OK. He said their power is likely to be out for many days. His wife was volunteering at a nursing home in Mayfield when it hit. She laid on top of a man she was caring for to protect him from flying glass. Her car was totaled in the parking lot.
He didn't mention their livestock, so I'm hoping the animals are OK. Their fields & yard were shallow flooded. Only damage to their house is a few lifted shingles. The barn is leaning but still standing. Their son's local Guard unit was activated Sat. AM to assist.
That's all we know at the moment.
Very heavy rain & high wind here at home Fri. night. The casualties and heavy damage here in KY was south & west of us.

Absolutely unbelievable. And not just Kentucky, sounds like a whole huge long swath of the midwest and Mississippi River valley. I hope for the best for everyone there, and BLF members from that area please drop us a line when you’re able!
It's also scary to have these in the middle of the night. That must be terrifying.
I live in Louisville, I was not personally effected, I am here to let everyone know the output of support is massive and citizens of KY have been donating their time and resources
