key chain finder

My DW is having short term memory problems and one thing that occurs very regularly is loss of keys, purse and the like. I found one set of keys out in the snow today that had been lost just after Christmas (positive was that the fenix E01 and aaa eneloop were as good as new) and shortly after that she came home to report her purse “lost”. As you can appreciate, daily such occurances are very stressful to the household.

Has anyone here used some type of a transponder that would attach to a key ring and would ring when “paged” by a base unit. I haven’t looked around yet but figured someone might have an idea. I would like at least 3 key chain units and if possible 2 “base” units. I figure if it was good for about 50 ft it would be satisfactory as most of the time the loss is in or close to the house or another known building.

I’ll will post this in another forum also.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks,

John.

Try searchng Ebay for “key finder”

Here is a base unit paired with 5 attachable receivers

I was just looking at ebay - there are many choices. May try one or two out but if someone has experience with a particular model and would comment on it that would be great.

Thanks,

John.

interesting option…

I have thought about getting a couple of these myself from time to time.

One year battery…non replaceable…That would be non for me

I did look at the tile website and the one year battery life along with the fact that it needs to be used with a phone app mean it wont work for me. I do have a cell phone but seldom carry it.

I’ve just ordered a set of one transmitter and 3 receivers (go on keys etc) from ebay and once I get them and have a chance to use them and test them I’ll do a short review.

Thanks again,

John.

This was supposed to be on SECKILL today (in about 4 hours) for $.99 but now it’s showing every SECKILL product is “expired” even the ones that dont start till later. I see you dont like the phone aspect but this one does have replaceable batteries, may be worth even the full price of $8 if you have a compatible phone.

I saw something like this a while back and wanted to get it for the wife because she keeps losing here keys. I could have swore it was at meritline. It had a base and 3 or 4 key chains.

How’s this?
AGPtek Remote Wireless Key Finder Locator, 1 RF Transmitter and 5 Receivers including Free Extra Batteries

Ivation Wireless RF Item Locator/Key Finder with LED flashlight and base support. With 4 Receivers

I’d like to have two transmitters but will wait till I try it out before ordering another:
