I see that it's practically identical to the Jetbeam BA20, but I can get the P2A for about $10 cheaper. And I've read that the Klarus is every bit as good in the fit/finish dept.
It probably seems the one to get from what i have read around. I had a RC-N3 that was pretty decent but needed an emitter transplant. However the strobe mode along with a forward clicky and no memory was very annoying. At around 17usd does not compete with the klarus in any way alhrough the romisen was very nicely built.
Based on this information and information on other threads here I got a Klarus P2A for my Mum (Mom, for the Americans ). I’ve just put batteries in and tried it out before I send it to her. For reference I have the Fenix TK41 (awesome) and the Rominsen RC-G2 (awful - faulty switch).
Thoughts about the P2A:
It cost me US$40 including shipping from ebay
Comes with a belt clip and a wrist strap
It seems well built and reasonable robust, but I wouldn’t go throwing it at walls or anything. It should survive most reasonable drops onto most surfaces, unless you crack something.
It seems like it should be pretty well water resistant, if not waterproof (it claims waterproof to 2m)
Switch is spongy but seems solid (switches seem to be a weak spot for lower priced torches)
It has high and low power, to put it on low you rotate the flash head.
There’s no rattling (my TK41 battery compartment rattles slightly, with the 8 AA cells in the holder)
Brightness wise it’s pretty impressive for it’s size. It’s somewhere between 2 and 3 on my TK41, which puts it around 200 lumen, give or take 50 lumen.
The beam’s a bit wider than the TK41, it has a bright spot in the center but it has a reasonably amount of spread too, which I count as a plus
Overall it seems like a good quality 2xAA torch, good brightness, and compact. If I needed a 2xAA torch myself I’d not hesitate to buy one.
