So this are just some small ramblings, and not a proper review, as I suspect one of the great’s have/will accomplish that task.
But after a few days, and a good night walk, some impressions:
- Probably should have gone with 6 cells if it had been possible.
- 4 pcs 3000 mah batteries are depleted quite rapidly with heavy use of the higher modes.
- even with reasonably high output cells, the voltage drop from turbo mode causes the flashlight to give an occasional low-battery blink, and a red power button during the run. After the abuse is over, the power button indicator will return to blue. 90 watts is serious.
- This thing gets hot. Turbo is really turbo; a true custom built light. I wasn’t able to let it get to the temp throttle because it was already uncomfortable to hold. I cannot imagine the 70 degree throttle. Backing down to a lower but still very bright mode doesn’t reduce the flashlight’s temp once it’s high. You almost have to go down to an amp or less for the temp to start coming back down. Almost wish the flashlight was heavier (is that sane?) to deal with the heat of this gem.
- This is one bright flashlight … like silly bright. Addictively bright. On a small wooded trail, turbo is a monstrosity. Throw is decent, could have been better, but it was to be expected. Using low and then leaning on that button for turbo is quite intense.
11/10, fantastic light.
