KR3 Tailcap problem

My Noctigon KR3 arrived yesterday afternoon. I added a tritium tailcap to my order.

The light works great with the normal tailcap, but when i switch to the tritium tailcap its completely dead, I dont even get the flash when anduril lights initially make connection. Are there any easy tests I can do before I reach out to Hank?

Try taking off that little ring that sits between the tailcap and body.

Good call. Will try when I get home.

  1. remove the head and tailcap completely, and wipe off the ends of the body tubes so there is no lube on them. Use a Qtip to also wipe off the contact ring in the head, and the contact ring in the tailcap, as well as the tailswitch retaining ring surface that makes contact with the outer body tube. We want clean, dry, metal to metal contacts, with no dirty lube interfering with electrical conductivity.

  2. close the tailcap tight (no need to remove spacer ring as long as it sits flush to the body and tailcap, with no gaps)

  3. from the head side, gently press the inner tube towards the tailcap, to insure it reaches to make contact with the ring around the tailspring

  4. install the head Last

  5. keep the tailcap closed, do battery changes from the Head

Will give this a try as well.

Unfortunately, after a few days of playing with it I’ve had no success. There’s no visible difference, but the normal tailcap works flawlessly and the tritium tailcap doesn’t make connection at all. I even tried disassembling the tritium tailcap to see if I could find something disconnected internally, but I can’t get the retaining ring to budge and I don’t want to mess the threads up trying to force it. I’ve reached out to Hank to see if he has any suggestions/ next steps.

sorry no luck yet
agree the switch retaining ring is glued and not worth damaging it

here is the instruction Hank gives to adjust the reach of the inner tube (on a KR1AA):

if that fails,
hopefully Hank will offer you a new tail.. or refund.. or credit on a future order
