L shaped headlamps

I have used a few headlamps but never the L-shaped versions . I am wondering if it is distracting to have the light off center .

Having the light project from the center of the forehead makes sense. Having it slightly off to one side or the other seems it might be annoying when working up close. Like maybe you have to rotate your head left or right to get the center of the beam on target .

So before I make a purchase I thought I would ask those with experience .

Not noticeable in use at all.

Like bmengineer said, you’d never know the light was coming slightly off center. It looks perfectly fine. The beams on headlamps are usually wide angle.

If you had a really large, heavy light it might matter (the heavy end might droop), but most decent headlamps are pretty light weight; my Zebralights are not heavy, not even the 18650 one.

The only gripe I have with the offset light engine is that its easier to accidentally cover it with your hand while changing modes. This is particularly annoying when on the higher outputs as it can be somewhat blinding.

Doesn’t bother me at all, and you get the benefit of it being very natural for handheld use too.

Makes absolutely no difference . You can't tell...

Almost all my headlamps have diffuser film on them and the edge of the beam starts at about 165 degrees.

As to the button placement I like the Skillhunt /Armytech location of the switch . Squeezing the head just seems much more of a normal way the light would get handled . the same grab as if you were adjusting the light up or down .

I still suggest opening the strap all the way and pulling the light over your head and under your throat .

Wearing it around your neck is the most comfortable way to wear a headlamp and your chin blocks any glare .

If I'm doing something very precise I want it on my head but 90% of the time the strap is set to wide open .

Seems to me a headlamp is probably the most important light in everyones collection . It's a must have ...

Aesthetically it bothers me that its not centered, but in use it makes no noticeable difference.
If you are reading up close, you may have to adjust the angle ever so slightly to compensate.
