That BLF is the most unique and best destination on the internet is something I often take for granted. So it was with zero expectations that I casually mentioned missing my long lost and foolishly traded L2r. It was only $10 brand new and I thought they would be available forever. As we all know, Solarforce kills slow movers without a second thought and of course, once Foy can't have something, he suddenly wants it very badly.
A package landed in my mail box a few days later (yesterday) with an original, 1-piece, no-longer-can-buy L2r . . . courtesy; Match. It was in great condition but was without a tail cap locking ring. I had a switch that fit but all my locking rings are P60 size. L2r no worky.
Today, in the government administered designated new flashlight staging vault (Foy's mail box) was an envelope that weighed nothing, with no discernible shape therein to be felt. Upon opening, was found one small L2r size tail cap locking ring . . . courtesy; PCC.
Installed switch module in flashlight from South Carolina, snugged up tight with locking ring from California, dropped in 8.4 volt XP-G/R5 drop-in from China along with a pair of 14500's from same and . . .
Bright, bright, bright L2r!
Did I mention also, that I miss my long lost and much loved Olight SR90?
However; because of its 2-cell form factor, you have to use a high voltage module. (when using lithium-ion) This UltraFire 8.4 volt XP-G is one of the most incredible R5's I've ever seen. Pure white and has the reach of a thrower twice its size. I have an 8.4 volt XM-L from Solarforce that would work but this XP-G drop-in blows its doors off.
I’m like you Foy … I used to own a perfect L2R, but gave it away to my father in-law for his birthday, along with a low-voltage XP-G module. I’ve missed it ever since and was really frustrated because I wanted to purchase a couple more L2Rs after giving mine away and Solarforce had already stopped selling them!
They’re an excellent budget 2xAA host … what a shame!
Anything is possible! Too bad Solarforce doesn’t make an L3. The alternatives would be a L2 with a single CR123a extension or a L2M with an 18650 extension. How about a bored 9P?
I just got my first L2R yesterday and I love it. :D Currently running it on a E1320 P60 with a 14500 and spacer until my XP-G gets here. Can't wait. :)
