On my Convoy M1, even though its fully anodized the edges are very sharp, and the fasttech lanyards are not that great to begin with, i’ve gone through two so far.
Any suggestions other then sanding off the ano and underlying metal?
Make a lanyard with paracord?
Second that… Back to 2011 I build several lanyard for my flashlights and keys, because I hated that my cheap ones were broken after just a few month…
Now nearly 2 years later I am still impressed. Most of them look like new and all are still perfect! 
I use a bayou clip on my lights that I want secured to my person, a paracord lanyard tgen clips to my trousers.
there’s a nice paracord wrap you can tie that gives a lanyard called a koppa weave I think, I’ll find a link later.
I’ve used these in the past on a key ring if necessary without a problem.
Or use a small split ring then attach the lanyard to the ring.
i’ve wanted to avoid using metal because it will wear off the ano and reshape hte metal, but perhaps i will relent, its not liek this is a shelf queen perfect condition light

I never use lanyards most lights (so far, only the BTU Shocker still has it’s lanyard). I have a ton of these stuffed into a parts drawer, various sizes, materials, and colours.

you can see the clips securing the knife and light to the lanyard, and the clip for securing the lanyard to my trousers or bag.
From what I remember the m1 and m2 both have slots to allow tailstanding whilst a split ring is in use.
