Hey guys, I’ve been lurking this site for a while, I’m pretty to the world of flashlights, and actual tech behind it but I nabbed a few lights after the past months.
When I was putting it back together, the reflector must have gotten flipped upside down and tore the “expoxy lens” or “led cap” (not sure the exact terms) off the led.
To reattach the the dome, you need some clear glue, or optical adhesive. This is a temporary fix though, and you will lose some brightness, not noticeably so.
I wouldn't care about that. You dedomed the lens. Led output will probably have diminished a bit but hardly noticeably as BlueSwordM says. Your flashlight now throws better so you can consider that a ;-) win.
Agree. Dozens of people here have butchered countless leds to achieve what you have done by accident.
This is called dedoming. Now you are one of the happy few. Leave it that way. Don’t touch it. Be happy.
