I reassessed the situation…. I had 2 old Cabelas LED lights (that came out of the vehicles) that take CR123 batteries, and while not very bright, they’re bright enough for the use. I think I can get lithium CR123s. I’ll just get fresh batteries for the old lights.
I put one of the Convoy S2s that I just removed from the cars into an outer pouch of my Fatboy pack, and I have a Convoy C8 inside the larger interior of the pack. The wife never drives anywhere by herself at night and I always have my Fatboy with me, so problem solved. I don’t let myself get over 140°F and I don’t let myself get to below zero if I can help it. 
I’ll look into making LED heads for the mini MagLites when I need a small learning project, probably soon. That is, if it’s even possible to do. When I do, I’ll research it here; I bet someone here has done it.
