How many LED lights does one need to fully illuminate a room that is always busy? Like a kitchen for example?
if we walk down the enviro path for a moment ... we make too much junk ( waste) , too many people ( way overpopulated ) , and yet everyone needs something to do - we have to pay bills to live and eat-so if we make everlasting things what will we do ...?
i have a metal fan that is 30 years old at least - still running. never heard of the company because noone wants an expensive object vs a cheap one that works and they can only sell so many now they are gone.
there is a place for good long lasting stuff and cheap stuff but all that productions is poisoning the earth too. an ecofriendly fan made one time is less harmful than several cheapos environmentally speaking. an maybe we dont have to work 40 hours for 50 years - maybe we can work only 20 hours and that will sustain a normal life
and i know we cant get a straight answer or scientists to agree or just they dont know the entirety of the effect on life on the planet. Just needs common sense applied, if you add a synthetic compounds or petroleum distillates to the water table it effects the life that is there and impacts things as it goes on. so i think we need to make everlasting things , fully recyclable , fixable etc etc
but IMO we are products of the past and dont look ahead - our concept of existence hasnt changed much and wont because people dont care until they are suffering or its too late
i guess id like to see people look twards better things - guess we dont have enough forsight to look beyond our current existence.
we all want everything - its natural , maybe...
its my theory and i am stickin to it
I have a set of four of these from MF:
I have been using these for almost a month now replacing 4 x 50W halogen bulbs in a track-light fixture. They produce a reasonable amount of light and have a nice warm tint that looks very natural. I can't comment on longevity yet, but the aluminum fins do contribute to cooling as the fins will be quite warm to the touch. The previous halogen bulbs ran very hot and pulled 200W vs. the cool 16W of these bulbs. I am quite satisfied at this time. MF has the same bulb in an E27 format and I am planning to purchase a set of those for further testing.
MF's selection looks good but it's very confusing.
Some of their products look exactly the same (one has the uniquefire label and one doesn't):
I wish they'd get smarter than all the other dummy DX-like sites and did some basic testing of their own to recommend products. Otherwise buyers have no confidence what they'll get and are much more reluctant to gamble with their money.
yesssss, why not
What are the odds in finding about 500lm + LED lightbulb with e27?
This is a brief review of: http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/e27-31w-3w-270lumen-warm-white-light-bulb-lamp-yellow-85v265v-ac-p-7146
I got the gold one, though I imagine the silver is just as good if you don't mind not being #1:  http://www.manafont.com/product_info.php/e27-31w-3w-270lumen-warm-white-light-bulb-lamp-silver-85v265v-ac-p-7145
The light body is anodized aluminum and the "bulb" is just white plastic diffuser. Inside is 3 emitters on a custom PCB. The e27 base unscrews and the driver board is inside wrapped in some tape. I didn't bother to disassemble to see how that's designed. Build quality is pretty good, no complaints. The plastic for the dome could be better but it's pretty functional. The pcb look well mounted and the aluminum bits get warm so heat shouldn't be a problem.
When powered on, it take about half sec to turn on for some reason, though I guess this means the circuit inside isn't trivial. The light is a pretty good tint, maybe 3500K, almost a "neutral" color. Output is at best a 40w incan bulb, probably less, but the claimed output ~200+lumen isn't far off (a 40w bulb is going to be ~500lumen, but less directional). It's not bright enough to ceiling mount to light up a room. I put it in a cheapo desklamp and it's quite pleasant for illuminating stuff on my desk. The light is somewhat directional though (whereas I think an incan bulb will bounce its light around the fix a bit and provide a slightly softer beam).
Overall not a bad purchase if you can put it close to what you're looking at, or using it for peripheral/backlighting, etc, and the price is right.
I've ordered these from eBay:
one each white and warm-white. I'm planning to HS glue them to plain aluminium plates, ceiling mounted in my basement junk rooms.
Will report when I try them out.
Fancy one of these?
I saw those on ebay, too. I thought about getting a couple since it's cheap, but they require some work w/ ac adapter and cooling solution and some extra futzing to get everything to work properly (they have adapter, but w/o housing). Maybe after I finish my other perpetually unfinished light project. That and learn from your pitfalls.
How much did you pay for the E27 LED light bulb, and how much was shipping to Hong Kong?
?
Just about every post by qikuluo has a link to bladebargainsucks.com, therefore:
I have some 4W E27 LED bulbs arriving soon, from a different chinese supplier Super Bright E27/MR16/GU10 LED Bulb Replacements , will see if they are any different (these will be in the warm white). and i also have some MR16 6W LED hopefully arriving next week.

Welcome to the monkey house, Andrewh!
