What would be best of these for a scope mounted flashlight XM-L2T6 COOL WHITE or XM-LT6 NEUTRAL or XM-LT3 WARM WHITE

Assuming you mean to shoot stuff, all else being equal, the XML2 is going to be better than the XLM’s.

When calibrating night shooting ranges, etc, the lux on target is always the limiting factor, not the tint.

If resolving a target at long range, at night, is an issue, and you are using a flashlight to do it, it takes a high cd to get anything meaningful on the target.

At close range, you can get away with lower cd and more flood, etc.

What are you wanting to resolve at what ranges?

(I can estimate the specs needed for various target types and ranges)

Hi Teej i will be shooting foxes out to 250yds

xpg2?

Do you use an illuminated scope, and, do they contrast with the background you’re sighting them against?

Are you using eye shine to find them and then aiming with the scope light?

Most people need about 5-15 lux on target to aim well if the contrast is less then good, and closer to 0.5 - 1 lux if the contrast is high.

To get 15 lux on a target 250 yards away would require ~ 800k cd, a tough spec.

To get ~ 0.5 lux would take more like a ~ 25k - 30k cd light, and 1 lux would require ~ 55k cd.

If you wanted 5 lux for example, that would take ~ 260k cd.

If you are just aiming, sometimes an XPG2 will give more range than an XML2….but the spot is smaller…which could be OK.

So, depending on how good your night vision is/and how night adapted it is when taking your aim, etc…you’d probably need a light with throw between those ranges.

If its on the scope itself, the smaller form factor lights are manageable, but for some, a rail mount might make more sense, especially as the head size required to get the upper throw ranges can be restrictive, plus, the added forward weight can make long range accuracy suffer, etc.

An aspheric lens might work if the small spot size is OK.

I havea a Nightmaster V2with a red led for searching and i am going to get the XSearcher for the scope, the scope is a Schmidt & Bender 8x56 non illuminated Teej
