What is the proper placement for the lens o-ring?
- between the bezel and the lens
- between the reflector and the lens
As I get curiouser and curiouser, I have found there to be no real rhyme or reason for the lens o-ring. Is there one proper placement, and many of my lights just had poor quality control.
Where it will do the best job stopping crud getting into the flashlight. Usually the lens and bezel as this is the outer most parts off the light.
Usually if the light wasn't designed to use the oring between lens & reflector, it won't seal around the outside against the ID of the head. Lights like the SRK are built to do it that way, also the Convoy S4 which has a groove in the front face of the reflector for the oring. 501b & Maglites have the oring groove in the bezel.
I guess it’s all a matter of physics and common sense.
