Letter/blister package/box opener...

Well, this may sound dumb, but I'm looking for a better letter/blister package/box opener. With so many packages coming in every week, I want something more comfortable than what I use now.

I currently mostly use a simple utility knife and occasionally a pair of simple scissors, but I find both inadequate. With the utility knife I need to be extra careful not to damage the products inside the package and opening blister packages is not fun either. With the scissors the internal bubble wrap sometimes just folds instead of being cut, and opening boxes with the scissors wide open to cut the adhesive tape is a little dangerous to my delicate fingers (experience talking here...).

A larger, sharper knife would probably be more helpful, but it will have both downsides of the utility knife and scissors - damaging products and cutting hands.

So I thought about something like a safety box cutter, like the Pacific S5 or something like the CKC Tat Cutter .

Do you have other suggestions?

(and as a side note, I have this cable knife which is fantastic for cutting the external cover off multi-core cables without damaging the core wires and I thought could help me with what I need, but it's not sharp enough and has trouble cutting through materials that stretch like adhesive tape and bubble wrap)

Get a 20 something girlfriend she will help you.

That's what I want a cute little helper.

Wish I had some more options for you. I always use either my pocket knife or the kitchen shears.

Have you tried one of these yet?

I have lately been using a Cold Steel Tuff-Lite. The Wharncliffe blade shape makes for excellent tip control, and it is 'just right' as far as size goes. If you have smaller hands, check out the 'mini' version.

Cheap and sharp, with a warranty - what else could you ask for ?

Haggai,

i have this on order. the blade on the very left with the hook blade is a package opener (similar to Leatherman) or orange peeler:

Milwaukee SawzAll should do the trick. Cool

Aw, forget it... I just get one of my big Ka-bars.

Harbor Freight tools has right angle grinders for about $30 that would do it nicely.
