Lidl currently have LSD NiMH batteries (AA, AAA, 9V, C, D) for £2.99 per packet, branded as Tronic with a red casing.
The AAs are 2100mAh and the packet states:
"ready to use: unlike standard rechargeable batteries these are ready to use - even after extended times of storage due to a low self-discharge"
They make no claims about how long they hold charge for though.
Manufactured 06/2010
Fresh out of the packet, on a 500mA discharge:
1. 1096 mAh
2. 1727 mAh
3. 1678 mAh
4. 1077 mAh
I'm just waiting for the refresh/analyse cycle to finish and I'll see how much they hold on a full charge.

I've read mixed reports on the other Tronic batteries, doesn't sound good if they only last a few months.
700mA charge/500mA discharge
1. 2011 mAh
2. 2066 mAh
3. 2023 mAh
4. 1970 mAh

Thanks for the tip. At the price if a half of them survive they might be worth it. Must check my local Lidl.

Bought black AAAs this week. Charging instructions on the body.

Today i have bought some Top Craft 2100mAh "ready to use" LSD batteries in the Aldi (4,99 euro for 4 AA or 4 AAA).
First the discharge, at 1000mAh (tested at high current because these are going to get high currents in the flash).
1- 1516mAh
2- 1556mAh
3- 1537mAh
4- 1553mAh
So they are really "ready to use" fresh out of the package with about 75% of the capacity. Now they are in the Maha MH C-9000 for a "refresh/analyze" (1000mA charge, 500mA discharge). I will post the results tomorrow.
I bought RED AAA Tronics. Got really steady results from 4-pack.
They even held their charge nicely, tested for 2 months. Good value! LSD indeed.
mine AAAs are probably non lsd :(
oh well, i don't really care for ni-mh anymore -even modded led lenser h7 to accept li-ion

Saw Lidls advert this week and noted that they sell two types of rechargeable batteries.
I did not know about their precharged “TRONIC ECO®”.

I have red wrap and green wrap from Lidl - the red are HSD and the green are LSD. Capacity of the red HSD AA varies from 1500 to 2100. They are marked as 2500mAh
The green LSD vary from 2000 to 2200, marked as 2100mAh
My conclusion is the green are better.

High self discharge - ie not LSD - low self discharge.
