Is there any safety advantage when storing a light with a single 18650 in it with the ability to lockout at the tailcap verses a light that doesn’t lockout? To be specific, is it safe to store a Solarforce L2P with the 18650 in it since I can’t lock it out? Accidentally having the light turn on isn’t the issue for me. The issue is having a possible fire hazard. I realize that the real danger is with mutli-cell setups, but even the single cell LION’s make me a little nervous. Would you feel comfortable leaving the setup I mentioned in your house unattended with the cell in it?
I do it all the time so no it doesn’t worry me.
Not worrying at all considering I probably have a half dozen lights sitting around the house with lions in them.
I can’t lock out my cell phone, laptop, etc….
Never had a problem.
To my understanding, as long as the flashlight uses a true hardware switch, there is technically no difference between a locked out light and one that is only switched off.
I have had accidental turn-ons in the past… scary situation to pull your light out of your pack and nearly scorch your hand the thing is so hot. NOT FUN!! While LOTC is not a deal breaker in my book, it (I think) definitely is an added layer of safety that I put to good use for those lights that have it.
Oops I didn’t read your post very carefully… in your case no theres no need for LOTC.
