Well, I can’t help but feel bad about a light (in fact I had two) that I had before but let go…it was my FireFoxes4 HID.
Sure, for sheer impracticality it was no. 1. Why? Do you have a light that has its lowest mode at more 2,000 lumens? And do you have a light that once you used the High mode and stepped down to any lower mode, for have to wait for, iirc at least 2 minutes I think, pass through OFF then back to High.
On the other hand, it was the light that right out of the box can provide more 6k lumens and 436Kcd lux, and with a glorious tint this HID provided.
And it was the first group buy I ever organized here in BLF, sold more than 200 units, only to end up with none of them now.
I just realized I missed it now, and the sadder thing is, I can’t even find the manufacturers website anymore, so perhaps no more FF5.
Sharing your own regrets will I think lessen my ‘longing’.
I gifted m first CooYoo “Quantum” to my sister thinking I could replace it at cheaply only to find my original purchase was an introductory price sale. It’s replacement cost me twice as much, which was far more than I would have spent had I not fell in love with the little bugger while I had it. Quite painful to the budget that mistake was but at least it was a fixable mistake.
While I don’t regret it or lament over it I recall letting go of all my Litefuxes for cheap (3-4 of them for $20~$25 each.) I recall my reasoning was that they were redundant in my collection & didn’t excel in any one area. & I recalled that while being very low their moonlight levels were still a bit brighter then my Ra lights. Oh well. That’s how it goes.
The one and only Nitecore MH20 in neutral white, i like that flashlight very much but i sold it to fund something else. I still think i made mistake, and actually i am thinking of buying another one, or maybe the GT version.
Olight S15R.
I had bought 3 of these beauties, but I gave away all of them to friends and familly.
I’m glad they really liked/appreciated/use them, but despite the good flashlights that I bought afterwards and the fact that I still own an Olight S15 (no R), I’m still thinking of my beloved S15R sometimes…
There are several that I built nice big copper heatsinks for only to end up moving them on. We got in a bind on the VW Diesel scandal and the timing didn’t work out like they had said on the buyback, we ended up with double car and insurance payments and I let go of some 40 flashlights. There were more than a few of those I wish I still had, but it’s the way of things, yes? I get new ones that I cherish as well, so very slowly those that I sold are being replaced and I have new treasures…
My Olight M2X, I sold it to Mitko and regret it since because it’s an amazing compact thrower.
I kept the SR52UT thinking it was better with USB charging and had 3 more autonomy but the truth is it’s way too bulky and heavy to be carried…
Maybe I should buy the UT02 or whatever new compact thrower with XP-L HI or XHP35 and 26650…
Probably my Astrolux E01 XP-L… I bought few of these and I gave them away thinking they’re cheap and bright for under $15,thinking I could always get more later. Now I have none and couldn’t find that deal anymore :person_facepalming:
My first Arc LS, which disappeared from checked (but unlocked) luggage.
That happened not long after the TSA started up and were inspecting everything.
Denver CO airport.
I hope it’s keeping everyone safe and secure in its new job.
An OnTheRoad light I bought a few months ago, that disappeared somewhere.
I have a couple of flashlight regrets. The biggest regret is that I sold my BLF Special Edition Lumintop SD10 to an acquaintance a while back. I had gotten it from the WWEFANS Group Buy and I loved it. Since there was to be a second Group Buy of a “newer” model, I thought it would be okay to let the older one go. I knew at the time that I was going to miss it, but I thought it would be replaced soon. Well, then the new Group Buy lingered and turned into Lumintop making a complete revision with a new name: SD4A. I never did get one. So, I’m just out and missing my best, most used light. The plot thickens, though. I’d sold it to him because he needed the ultra-flexibility of battery choice, one of my favorite features of the SD10. He did a lot of hiking and kayaking and some amount of camping. I just knew I was helping him out with the perfect light for his need. Well, then his grandson’s birthday came along, and he gave the SD10 to him! He never even used it himself. I had used it very gently, so it looked like new. The kid got a great gift. But, I felt like I had thrown pearls before swine with this guy. I should have just told him to buy one of the standard ones from Amazon. Then I’d still have mine.
The other one is not as bad (I don’t miss it as much). But I still regret it a little. I’d bought a purple Olight i3E EOS for my wife to carry in her purse. Well, later on, I gave her an EE X6 from the first Group Buy because it was bigger, would put out more light, and the battery lasted longer. It would be a lot more useful. We decided to give the purple EOS to her mom, since it just used a primary “AAA” and she only needed something to see the keyhole on her house when she got home at night. That’s all well and good, but now she’s been upgraded to a larger flashlight as well, and the EOS is just hanging on her key rack. I don’t think it ever gets used any more. That thing was too expensive to just “throw away”. I guess I could ask for it back, but I’d feel weird about doing that.
Haven’t really let go anything that is not replaceable. Gave away a few, some were multiples or tints I didn’t appreciate.
X2R is one I had to replace after giving the first to a friend.
