My edc lightmalls C8XMLU3 light is going dim cleaned contacts uhh any ideas what it could it be or should I scarp it and try and use as a host?
a. Battery good?
b. Short battery negative and body/casing bypassing tailcap.
c. LED discolored?
Yes I have plenty of new Panasonic 18650 ncr 34000 Mah protected batteries. And no the led seems to be same yellow as before I did notice it dimmed qfter changing batteries and have since tried changing a half dozen other batteries and its still dim.
What do u mean by dim? 10% output? Do the modes work? Have u tried shorting the neg end of battery to the body? Any flickering?
Just checheked down to 1.5@ amps at tailcap and I’m down to at hi about 40% output I changed the head off another C8xmlu3 and it is. Bright as old one used to be and 2.9 amps
Not helping you any, but that indicates something’s wrong with the head. Carefully inspect the head for abnormality?
It could be the driver because when you changed ‘heads’ the brightness was different.
One of the components of your driver may be loose. Or worse - fried.
