Hey guys, been trolling for a while and love this forum, great reviews.
Recently bought Romisen RC-C6 Zooming Q3-WC from DX, and I love showing it off to my family. I want to buy them a zooming XM-L for under $40 including batteries and charger. I found a good looking one on Lightmalls.com, problem is I don't see many reviews on the site and didn't see anyone from here buying one. Anyone have any experience ordering from them?
I have that light with an xre in it. I bought it for $8 on eBay and it’s great for that price. If you really want a zoomie go for it but I think an XML wouldn’t be so great in it. Maybe a brighter flood but no better throw. You don’t know how well it’s driven either although someone has to order one to find out. My suggestion would be to forget about the zoomies and look into a C8. Kaidomain makes a nice one. Manafont has a nice Trustfire C8. The XRE zoomies are very cool and fun to play with. An XML in the same light doesn’t really improve it, really just disappoints if you are familiar with what an XML can really do. If you have fun with you zoomie, you will really like a C8.
Thanks lang, I had read about the zoomies being less bright at higher lumens, I do like the C8 (looks like good build quality and nice looking too) on manafont and will probably settle for it. I'm sure once I try it out it will blow my old 90 lumen Romisen away.
I ordered from there before (uniquefire 3900 triple XM-L, you can search for my review), no problem. Drop them an email...they respond fast. Processing took 1 day and after that another 5 working days for shipping.
Good to know 2100, thanks for the heads up. May order that zoomable just as a toy to try out, looks really nice to me even if the lens cripples the xm-l. Or save up for that 3900, hehe sounds crazy!
I recently bought the same light for about 16.50 on Ebay with a charger and 2 batteries- my first torch ever and very nice and bright, good flood and focus and also works well on 3aaas but the 18650s are brighter.
Mine is Saik Sa9. Has a really cool focused beam on Zoom Mode.
Langcgl- I'd love to have a brighter 700- 900 Lumen version of this and was thinking of the TANK 007 TK736- the MX-L version of their TANK 007TK 737 ( which functions very similar to the Saik Sa-9 - saw a video of TK737.)
Will the XM-L not focus as well because of the larger die and general characteristics of XM-L and is there another more powerful Emitter that would work better but still have similar power to the XM-L ?
Thanks and hope I'm not straying too far from OP thread.
I would like to learn more about this as well. I learned very little about optics in school and would take a guess to say it has something to do with numerical aperture, the size of the lens and the size of the LED. Also the space and actual air between the two. Immersion oil would increase resolution and should be non-conductive, would be neat to play with hehe. I'm sure a high quality glass lens would help more then anything, but I dunno. Someone who know about optics wanna shed some light on this?
The easy answer is it's not as bright when in throw ..the xreand xpe's out throw the xml // they also outthrow a xpg which has more throw than a xml..flood is 10% different story xmls are very floody .it has to do with how light comes off the emitter and at what angle .
A flood to throw light modified with a newer xpg or xml emitter will have more flood and much less throw ..that's just the nature of the beast .
the upside is the q3's and q5 flood to throw ligts are cheap and throw like Joe Montana ..they are one of the biggest bang for you buck lights and create more flashaholics per year than any other type light .
Back to the Lightmalls discussion, I have recently purchased an item from them, and they were the most helpful lot ever. I bought an Ultrafire C8 XM-L U2, and the light quality was amazing! No marks, machining errors, or anything on the body, and the lens and the reflector were free from ANY defects.
I would highly recommend this site, and I am right now deciding which light to purchase off them again.
The site may look sketchy with not many reviews, but that is because not many people have tried Lightmalls. Dealextreme is really popular, that is why there are much more reviews.
But trust me, just look up the light on these forums, and then find the same light on Lightmalls. It will not disappoint you! Their goods are not a leftover box filled with refund seconds, but with brand new, great condition lights.
This light has a common design problem. When the LED moves to change the distance between the LED and the lens, it is very difficult to get decent heat transfer between the pill and the case. So when you start using these designs with well driven XM-Ls, they don’t function well.
Just got my skyray King from lightmalls payed with paypal . It arrived well packaged after about 2 weeks . The torch is fantastic really powerful very happy with it
