LiIonWholesale branded protected cells

I was interested in purchasing more cells for my new flashlights. I was looking at the LiIonWholesale branded protected cells. Does anyone have experience with these cells?

Also, if cells mostly going to be charged inside the flashlight, is protection worthwhile? I mostly buy convoy lights, and they tend to have protection circuits

I don’t have experience with their protected cells yet but as far as specs go they would be my go-to choice.

Protected cells are recommended when multiple cells are used in series or when a device does not have LVP. If you are using a single cell or paralleled cells, and the device does have LVP, cell level protection is not really needed. The protection circuit also protects against overcharge though, meaning you could use the cells in sketchy devices that feature built in charging, without worrying about the cells getting cooked.

My concern would be the additional 4 -5 mm length of those protected cells. Depending on the driver contact construction (post vs. spring), body length, tailcap dimensions, it’s a crapshoot whether or not certain lights will accommodate protected cells without crushing components or allowing full seating of the tailcap to complete the circuit. I stick to standard unprotected flat top cells in all my single cell lights including those where I utilize OBC. Only exception is my Sofirn SP10 PRO that has RP protection tabs on the driver base.

The ultimate use would probably be Convoy S9s, and some C8 family lights

I do not have any experience with their protected cells either. In fact I haven’t used protected cells in over 10 years and I’m still alive. If you know there ( unprotected ) limits and use them properly there’s no need for protected cells…

Liionwholesale is a reputable place where I have bought numerous unprotected hi drain cells many times over the years.
