Recently I purchased a Lavatube E cig from Tornado. I had done a bit of research & wanted one that took 18650 batteries. Being that I have been a member here awhile. The idea of the lithium ion battery wasn’t too problematic to me. My problem? These sellers are selling these batteries to people who have no idea about them. The folks selling the e cigs are clueless. When she showed me the battery she had no idea of what kind it was…She tried to sell me one, I said ‘oh it takes 18650’s’… She said HUH? I pulled one out of my L2T & said this is a 18650 lithium ion battery…. That is what yours is. She being a rocket scientist said… OH, ok… LOL.
This wasn’t problematic for me until today. My brother called, he had bought one and was having battery problems. I explained to him what he was dealing with & that a bit of caution would be advised. We promptly went out and grabbed a Nitecore i2 & 2 protected Tenergy batteries. I explained them to him and is getting rid of the cheap 18650’s & charger they sold him. I’m not sure the public at large is being made aware of the issues that can arise with Lithium Ion batteries. The sales person basically sold them to him with no warning or advise at all about them. I think this is a gross representation on the sellers part.
Gonna shoot a email to Tornado about this… What ya’ll think???

Warning: This device has been tested and should only to be used with Authentic "AW IMR 18650 1600mah or 2000mah batteries". For safety reasons, please do not use this product with any other batteries sold by other vendors.
im not sure why the people that sell them in the store are not properly trained. if you go to ECF, they preach battery safety
edit: but they also sell ultrafire cells on the website?? wtf lol
I asked my brother if the sales person had informed him… He said HUH? They didn’t explain half the darn thing to him. Worries e about folks buying them with no further research. They showing him how to fill it and smoke it thats about it.
yes it is a pity to see not well educated seller about lithium battery. especially when theses kind of seller try to educate common user.
it’s like blind man showing way to a blind man…
I remember a story of someone who had a horrible accident with one of these e-cigs:
If I hadnt been talking to you & doing some research… There were no directions in the boxes or anything. The average person will have no idea.
ultrafire batteries? in something you put in your mouth?
my what a good idea……
never been to a brick and mortar ecig shop as there are none around here, but the online vendors I deal with in Canada are well versed in battery safety…you’re always going to have a shop that just hires people to sell what they have without teaching them anything other than using the cash register…lol
Sales people in these stores. Well, it’s like the kids working at Lowe’s ( Home improvement store )
