Are there any fairly common sources for Eneloops locally in the U.S. I'm not a member of Costco but are they ever available at Home Depot, Lowe's, Radio Shack or any place local?
I know where to get them online.

I know there is a Walmart somewhere in the Seattle area (must be) but I've never run into it. If there are any more common places feel free to post them (anyone).
Rite aid and Walmart have Duraloops I believe they are the same thing as long as you get the made in Japan ones with the white top. Rite Aid typically has them on sale for 8-10 dollars for 4aa or 4aaa.
Great. Thanks! I have a Rite-Aid just down the street from me. I'll look for the white top Duraloops. I bought a pack of each AA and AAA online but I have another headlamp that uses AAA's so I thought I try to find something locally. Rite-Aid will be easy.
Rite Aid's non-sale price is something like $16 for 4 though. I've gotten white top Duracell's from Target before as well. I think Walgreen's has them even. The trick to all of them is finding a good sale.
hard to believe you are in a major city and can't find a Walmart. I pass 5 of them on my way to work every day, here in San Diego.
If you get a Rite Aid rewards card you get 20% off batteries plus a $1dollars coupon on the receipt to use toward other purchases. I always wait until they go on sale and buy them, they go on sale quite often the best price I got was $8.99 with the coupon bringing them down to $7.99 for 4. They usually go on sale for 9.99 about once a month, you have to watch the flyers plus every time i go in i role past the isle just to see if there is a sale sticker on them. The problem i have with my local Rite Aid is they mix the Chinese and Japanese ones on the same rack so I have to pick through them to find the good ones and they usually only have a couple sets of the good ones so i am always buying them out. I have replaced almost all of my batteries in my house with these now the savings really adds up in the long run. They are usually 11.99 at walmart so i usually don't bother wasting my time with them.
I think Eneloops are about $9 at BatteryJunction. I'm amazed that they are double that locally (unless they are on sale). Good to know. I don't have to have more right now and I have a Rite-Aid just down the street so I can just check that aisle every now and then.
The easiest way to buy duraloops is online thru ebay .if you're willing to pay 2$ each you're almost assured to win the auction .And if you are buying a quantiy greater and just a few packs almost all vendors use priority post because batteries are heavy abd it's cheaper to use ..so it comes in about 3 days from anywhere in the U.S.. EBAY is definately the best way to buy duraloops ,there's no need to wait for sales or run to rite aid etc .. click click and mr. mailman brings them to your door .simple .

Regarding BatteryJunction I just ordered a charger with 4 AA from then and the I added 4 AAA. The 4 AAA were about $9. I guess AA would be a bit more. I'm not ordered another 4 AA from them at this moment since if that's all I'm ordering it's not worth it due to the shipping (and that's why I started this post).
I have noticed that in general Rite Aid seems to be expensive for batteries. I was looking for lithium AAA's and AA's. Unless they are having a sale they are more than other places and at the time I was there they didn't even carry the cheaper "advanced" rather than "ultimate" lithiums although most other local stores did carry them.
Regarding living in a major city and not passing Walmart's...it's a matter of not getting too far out into the suburbs I guess. I don't live downtown but do live fairly close. Walmarts aren't generally in higher property value areas as far as their specific location. San Diego is more expensive that Seattle I believe but everything may be more spread out there. There probably aren't any near La Jolla are there? I just did a quick online search and found one about 30 minutes north of me in Lynnwood and I'm sure there are some south of Seattle.
I might have to get back to using ebay again. I've just been away for a while.
Thanks for all of the feedback everyone. I ended up driving around a bit just to check out the stores not far from me. Rite-Aid had 4 AAA Duracel LSD batteries some had white tops and some did not.
I ended up going online to Amazon. They are located in my city so to avoid the tax I just order from one of their "associates" and still pay thorough Amazon. It was $10 for 4 AAA Eneloops including shipping.
It was very easy to order as Amazon remembers my credit card so after verifying the last 4 digits and pressing a button it's a done deal. Very easy and should arrive later in the week.
For me this is just as cheap, easier and a bit more secure than ebay. It beats paying $16 plus 8.1% tax for Duracells at Rite-Aid down the street :)
Odd that the AAA's are harder to buy online than the AA's .
yeah I noticed that the AAA's on battery junction were under 9$.
I assumed you were talking AA since they are far more common .
I wouldn't have much use for AAA's either but I have two headlamps that use them. I have two more headlamps that use single AA's and headlamps are the main reason that I have to use Nimh. My larger flashlights use 18650.
Yes, We buy all of our eneloops and eneloop pro /XX from DepotEco… they are one of a few Authorized Panasonic / Sanyo Dealers.
Stocks the 4xAA w/ charger for $17.99 I have yet to find a genuine Eneloop cell sold by local RiteFade, or BWallMart
I would not be so sure… eneloop was purchased by Panasonic. they repackaged the line. So I see lots of folks that say they got a fake… But they really did not.
Panasonic is in the process of redoing there eneloop sites…

and the easiest way to get eneloops locally is still to find made in japan duracell pre charged 2000mah on sale.
i dont ever recall finding actual eneloops in any major store here in ohio.
i did buy a bunch from a flea market vendor for $1 a pack.bought all he had.must not have known what they were!
