Hello everyone… this is my story:
For the past 5 years I’ve been collecting flashlights, back then I was an very active member of the old cpf, before they completely ruined the fun with all the rules and other restrictions that made no sense.
I registered in BLF back in 2012 but have been only a reader all this time. It wasn’t until a couple months ago when I started thinking about all the lights I bought for no reason at all, which never received any real world use, and only serve as a expensive shelf display piece. And I’m not talking about cheap sub $50 lights, I talk about surefire, nitecore, zebralight, jetbeam, fenix, etc. It wasn’t a hobby anymore, just an obsession to own more and more lights, it was no longer fun because I never owned anything genuinely exclusive to me, something that I made on my own, although I had the skills to do so. :~
Then I decided to build my first light: convoy S2 triple xpg with qlite 3.04A driver. the build process? It was AWESOME. While certainly not the brightest light I own, it has something special in it, to have that kind of trust about something made by yourself is very satisfying.
That day I realized that the real spirit of this hobby is being able to create something by yourself, and able to constantly improve the skills and knowledge. BLF saved my hobby from turning boring and repetitive.
I have several mods in my mind right now, sinner’s tri edc triple xpl, Y3 dedomed XML2 5A, Convoy M2 mt-g2, and many other. I’m thinking about 1 build every 2 weeks or so.
So far I’ve been really happy with how BLF members have helped me, this is a community of genuinely great people, driven by the same passion.
