Lights get lost?
Hiw are you with li ion? (Read li ion safety 101 linked in my SIG)
Watson X65/X50 can be used with three AA cells and is a zoomie with good flood and quality is OK for its ~$15 price.
Take a look at the USB chargeable Eagle Eye X2R / X5R or X7 series if you´re on a budget. 18650 and 3 tints to select from.
Add a few bucks and get a Convoy BD06, a 26650 workhorse with available neutral 4C tint…
Hmm can’t find it on Gearbest
Here it seems to be sold on AliExpress http://s.aliexpress.com/ZBnyyYJF

Idk the seller and the description is not that good but it says Warsun X65 and for $12 even with fake led good price, add a nice NW led for about $3,5 and still a good deal.
This is going to go to my father, who has used SK-68’s ever since I got into flashlights. I think he’s been losing them just because they’re small and cheap. I noticed my customized SK68 (which is 3 times longer than normal) never seems to get lost. We already have a Nitecore i4, which pretty much is only used to charge a 10400 IMR cell. How common are 26650 cells?
I’ll definitely take a look into the Convoy.
I’ve looked at that, and it looks really neat, although it looks like not much is going in terms of heat dissipation. I’m tempted to buy one for myself, though.
Yes for your father
Still Warsun X65, with three good rechargeable AA cells
But I have tested the Convoy BD01 AMD BD06 for a long time now
No need to think about charging with these lights, they have internal charging and cut off nicely.
Ideal lights for people not knowing much about li ion and simple to use. High quality.
Definitely good lights to give away and having low voltage protection they can be used with any 18650 or 26650 cell
I recommend Liitokala 26650 cells since they offer true 5000mAh.
Convoy BDxx ~25 cell ~6 makes ~31
Warsun $12 and a four pack eneloops ~16 makes 28 assuming you got a charger for them
But I think you probably already have cells like most people do.
(and well I still recommend this set in case dad leaves it in the car during scorching hot summer days for example.)
I’ll toss in a vote for a Convoy C8, your choice of tint, with the OP reflector. Throwy but with good spill up close makes it a good all-around general purpose flashlight. They get warm bit not hot when ran hard- all bets are off if you mod for more. My 4 C8’s from Fasttech, who have a very wide selection of them, were real but there have been a few reports of LB emitter fakes from there. If you buy from Simon it will be real.
I would get a headlamp instead of a flashlight. Get a crelant ch10 at banggood with m4dm4x coupon and put some diffuser film on the lens if it’s too spotty for you
Best 20$ you’ll ever spend!
Yep I’d second that, once you use a headlight for doing stuff like home repairs etc, you wonder why you ever struggled doing the same with a hand held torch.
Had a ch10 for a while now, great little headlamp with some sort of diffuser on the lense
Oh man I linked to it so many times but I have a headband ($2,50 AliExpress) that holds up to 3 18650 flashlights
So a floody S2+ on the left, a 365nm UV Nichia on the right and a throwy eagle eye X6 center
OK I now use it with just the EE X6 and the UV on it
But the thing is no headlamp can give me this diversity do I do not understand why not using a few or just one of your favorite lights on a band
So much more versatile
So sigh here I go again looking for the link of that band (should just write a little review on it so easier to find )
Here you go
All 18650 lights I have fit
Flood left and throw right can’t get much better then this in terms of hands free lights http://s.aliexpress.com/iqqQNVZv

Thanks everyone! We decided to go with the Warsun X50. We liked the ability to run AAA’s when in a pinch, a fair sized heat sink, and the XM-L2 emitter. I’m not overly concerned with charging, since we already have the Nitecore i4, and we’re sticking with protected cells.
