I was on Holiday a few weeks ago with the family. I brought my Solarforce L2M shortie with an XP-G s2 drop-in driven @ 1.4A. It has a LOP reflector.
Everybody was really impressed with it. We stayed in a villa in the mountains in Spain, so it was VERY dark at night, with no light pollution.
Anyway, my Uncle and Aunty want a light like it.
My question is, is there a better option for them that doesn’t involve a drop-in, and that can run on single cr123 primary? My thoughts are that they wont want any messing with drop-in etc(and to make things easier if they had a warranty issue), and wont be using rechargeable’s. So a complete, off the shelf light might be best.
I’ve shown them pics of my Olight S10, which they like, but i’m thinking it might not throw far enough for them.
How would an Eagletac d25c Clicky XP-G compare to a P60 XP-G?
I love the 2x aa format for relatives and non-flashaholics…I got my mom a klarus p2a and she loves it…tons of light and really safe and easy to use…I would look into a similar light…Crelant has a variable 2x aa light out now that looks cool…
problem with single aa lights is they aren’t very bright on ni-mh or alkalines…14500 li-ion makes em pump out the light though…so if you want a short light with high lumens then you need li-ion format…my itp sa1 on aa’s is bright but only 120 lumens or so…with li-ions is around 260-300 i’d gather…
I emailed them a picture of the L2M shortie beside the S10 and Mini-01. They will be using the light for walking, and i was thinking the Mini-01 wont be easy to operate with gloves on, especially 1 handed operation.
They also preferred the look of the S10.
Yeah, they want the power that the P60 XP-G has. The Olight S10 has the power, and will suit, unless they want the throw of the P60.
I think it will be just used for walking and exploring the odd cave, so the S10 might do it.
There is another option. The Hugsby P2. It runs on CR123A’s or AA’s (with the extension tube) that comes with it.and throws very well indeed, as well or better than the Z1, because it has a TIR lens.
I have both this and the Trustfire Z1. For the non-flashaholic the ability to use AA’s as well as CR123A’s is a big plus, although with AA’s is not quite as bright.
