Im currently deciding between the olight s30riii or the r50 pro seeker. Knowing nothing about flashlights, I’m wondering which one would be better for everyday carry, and working outside at night. Keeping in mind the size of both flashlights, and the brightness/ run time as well as price, which one would be the overall best carry and have the best value for money.
My 2 cents is r50 pro seeker. Its beam i floody but it has a good hotspot.
You should check the dimensions. R50 is a lot bigger then the S30.
I wouldn’t edc either. But the S30 is more edc’able.
You can fit S30 in your pant pocket and the R50 in a jacket pocket.
I would get a smaller light for edc and get the R50 for working outside at night
Thanks for the input! If I were to open it up to any brand/ model that would include both the different sizes (18650 and 26650) what would be the best overall light in both of those categories
The r50 seeker is not small, but it has a very nice size/ feel to it. This is not a light that is going to disappear in your pocket. I think when you ask about EDC people are going to recommend something that is small enough to fit in the pocket and be forgotten. That is not the r50. However the r50 is a very nice light and you may like it very much.
It would be more of less like a search and rescue light, looking through bushes or trees at night. It would have to have a medium to long range and have an okay flood for covering an area more quickly
For a nice floody light, the Klarus G20 seems a good option, as it covers a wide range and it is also “compact” even being a 26650 flashlight. (user Fin17 normally has a coupon for this light to lower the price)
Maybe then getting another one that can throw a bit further can complement this one!
In my mind: Jaxman M8 (XPL-HI), Emisar D1, …
I would EDC a 14500 light
and have the R50 in a pocket or backpack available if needed
I’d say get a 18650 light with xpl HI, for example nitecore p12gt, or mh20gt for better throw.
It is really up to you how much throw you want and how big is your pocket. If big enough, you can get a convoy c8 with xpl hi for close to 100kcd
so ive narrowed it down between the klarus g20 and the nightcore mh20gt. still trying to put together the pros and cons of each light so i can make a decision between the 2
ive also added in the fenix tk 20R. Does anyone have experience with any of these lights and can comment on the brightness/ features and the quality that they each have, and if they would go out and buy the same one again if they had to.
