Hello fellow enthusiasts! I finally decided to join BLF after lurking for more than half a decade. To start things of I have a question.
I recently sold my Lumintop ODL20C thinking I would easily find a replacement that fits my needs a little better. Should have looked first because I was wrong… (till now I hope). The main con for me was its size; I’d rather have something single 18650 or 21700 with a smaller head. A 26650-light combined with the throw-reflector is too bulky for my likings.
So, basically what I’m looking for is a ODL20C performance wise (I don’t mind the beam being some more pencil like though) in a more compact form factor. I’ll just sum up my preferences:
- Beam intensity: ~ 800 - 900 m throw
- Brightness: ~ 1500 - 2000 lumen
- Battery: 1x 18650 or 1x 21700
- UI: I like UI’s similair to: Nitecore MH20/23, Acebeam L16, etc (…) BUT Anduril would be a big pre! I actually disliked the ODL20C UI with its full click to change modes, but no dealbreaker.
Naturally I was looking for TIR lights like the Acebeam L17 but none of them tick all the boxes (or too little). Some other lights I concidered: Noctigon KR1 W2, Acebeam L18, GT mini etc. etc. but they all don’t fit in one way or another.
To sum things up: please, please, please help me find me a Acebeam L17 but with USB-C charging and a side switch!
No-go on a MH20GT?
Don’t recall if the MH23 has a GT version.
Speaking of Nitecores, I just pointed someone else at a EC4GT. A bit unconventional, but not bulky compared to the MH27 you mentioned, and throws like Hell. Runs full tilt for as long as the cells hold out.
Thanks Lightbringer. Jup, that’s a no-go unfortunately. I own a MH20GT (and 20, 23, 27, 12, 10 haha
) and although I really like it, it’s not the light I am looking for in this search. I’m really looking for a piercer that goes beyond the throw of any of those mentioned lights. Equal to or surpassing the Lumintop ODL20C…. but more compact.
In addition to my OP, lumens are of less importance to me and is the one thing out of my preferences I’m willing to compromise (also because I know there probably are some technical limitations).
Then one of the EC4 series…
The EC4S is over 2000 lemons, but (ain’t got one, just remembering what I read) turbo drops even below high after a while, whereas high stays rock solid and regulated for the duration.
The EC4GT (got 2) are nice and throwy. Just recharged the cells last night, in fact, amazed how well they tracked each other. Unprotected Imalent “3600mAH” cells (~3200mAH actually, within 150mAH of each other), so no fear of one burning down faster’n the other.
Really nice simple UI with the dual side-switches. Great thermals, great regulation, sustained output… what’s not to love?
It's a pleasure to know you, Pivo-i-siski!
I don't drink alcohol anymore, but I'm a big fan of b00bz.
