Looking for advice: cheapest option with smooth reflector

Hi,

I’m looking for a dirt cheap flashlight that has a smooth and shiny reflector. No anti-glare coating or segmenting.

I’m trying to recreate a cool effect, as can be seen here: video (but smaller), as part of a puzzle game. The reflector would function as the domed mirror, and the flashlight itself is there to throw players off - they might think they need to use the light or even the battery, but no one will think of unscrewing the reflector until they find the right clue.

This game will be published at scale, so the price is very important. One other limitation: I’d like the flashlight to have a classic look, nothing too modern (the game is set in the 90s).

After a lot of unfocused research, I found this forum and it seems like the perfect place to ask. Does anyone have some good advice?

Thank you!

Ruud

A Maglite would probably fit your classic 90s look, but they are probably too expensive. Look around on aliexpress for a cheap light. You probably want to limit your search to ones that use a cheap battery like AA.

Thank you. You’re right, a maglite would be the perfecet look. I just found one that might be promising, I’ll order that at least to have a look.

One of these kind of lanterns are like $5 at most hardware stores.
Be sure to get the single LED version to get the reflector you want.

All the Best,
Jeff
