Hi folks,
I’d like to return (send) an Imalent SR16 by mail.
The transporter indicates the battery must not be superior to 100Wh.
Do you know where I can find this information ?
I don’t manage to find detailed info on Imalent batteries (and I don’t know how to calculate Wh)
Lol
I’m starting to wander if Fenix is a Brand or a cult ((just kidding ). By the way, I’m currently thinking to buy one
Anyway I’m not an Imalent Lover so far. I tried both models. It has good potential but these flashlight are not yet finish IMO (some conception flaws are not acceptable at these price level).
I still have one question, the postman told me to stick a label indicating there are lithium-ion batteries in the package. I found some stickers but there are several different numbers (UN 3481, UN3091, UN 3480…). I’m looking for the right number, I think it’s UN 3481, can someone please confirm? thanks
Isn’t all the times the same… and isn’t all the times for jokes and fun… i was talking quite seriously… about battery safety… and then you posted in the thread just to have some fun… !
So yeah, im not a “Fenix Lover”… and most importantly i don’t have Shelf Queens and im trying to not be cheap my gear… so for these reasons i have only two flashlights and i like to use every single day and to treat them like tools… ! I bought my Fenix WT25R because was looking quite good, and i was correct and quiet pleased with the whole experience and the quality, so then i bought my Fenix E12 V2.0 and i like it too, and if im gonna buy a flashlight again i will check out the Fenix first ! It’s that simple ! Do i make myself clear now… !?
Sorry, my apologies if I offended you, it was not my intention. I think that you made a very good, thoughtful choice on your flashlights and that’s very good .
Otherwise I would recommend taking a look at the flashlight’s specifications on the manual/box, or using some math to figure out the batteries that the pack can have inside (3x18650, 4x18650, 3x21700, 4x21700 depends on width and sometimes voltage).
The post office will have and apply the correct label when you ship it. I’m actually not sure if you can just drop off a hazardous goods package in the collection bin (if they have one) even if it’s pre-posted or metered (you cannot do that with UPS or FedEx). Best to take it to the counter, though, imho. Tell them they are lithum ion cells inside a device (say “ion” and just say it’s four small cells)…they probably won’t ask you the watt hours but if they do you can give them that number above or similar. If you happen to have the shipping box from some other lithium-cell flashlight or whatever, you can usually just reuse that as well (they’ll slap another sticker over it if they feel they need to).
The Ah value will be printed on the cells somewhere…he just gave you a Max-Case scenario using the nominal 3.7v rating. Amps x Volts = Watts. The “hour” here is just an extra but since the cells are rated by amp-hours, the same figure gives you watt-hours. It’s safest to discharge them lower than nominal…say down to 3.4v, which you could use to adjust your watt-hour maximum if need be, but it also allows for some voltage bounce-back after resting. Just safer for transport really. It’ll still have to go by ground methods, not air, and that’s mostly what they care about.
Here’s one snippet from the DMM rules…looks like you’re correct with 3481.
Thanks all,
I sent the flashlight today and it was okay.
According to your suggestions, I threw an eye on the battery pack
For the records : Imalent SR16 battery infos :
Battery pack (4 batteries)
Model MRB217B
3.6V
46Wh (far under the 100Wh limit)
Infos are the same (name / V / Wh) for battery pack of SR16, MR90 and MS 12 mini. I suppose it’s the same thing.
Also I suppose MRB217B is the name of batteries and not the name of the battery pack because for MS18 it’s also called MRB217B
3,6V
92,2Wh (8 batteries in the pack)
