I am looking to buy a few multi-cell flashlights that use a battery carrier and can take flat-top 18650 batteries.
Prefer to get a flooder than a thrower.
If the price is not too high, I plan to buy a few.
I currently own an Acebeam K40M and I really like it.
Since I have plenty flat-top batteries, that’s all that I use on the K40M.
Something like K40M but cheaper would be great.
There are a number of flashlights such as the Skyray that use up to three our four 18650 batteries and multiple LEDs. If there are seven LEDs, for example, each one will have a relatively small reflector, so you will get a pretty wide flood.
I have a complete set of SKR from the 3x to the 9x.
They don’t use a battery carrier and they don’t take flat-top batteries either.
What I am looking for is a multi-cell flashlight that uses a battery carrier and can take flat-top batteries.
A good example is Acebeam K40M. http://www.acebeam.com/content/images/uploaded/K40M-15.jpg
Do you see the battery carrier in the picture? That’s the kind of flashlight that I want.
The design of the battery carrier allows the use of flat-top 18650 batteries.
Thanks for the recommendation but this is not what I am looking for.
I am looking for a flashlight that uses 18650 batteries with a battery carrier and not too expensive.
I am sure it is not just K40M that uses a battery carrier.
There must be others within the same price range.
I have button-top and raised-top 18650 for those multi-cell flashlights that require them.
I don’t like to modify my flat-top 18650.
The solder makes it looks ugly and it doesn’t sit well with me doing that on batteries that cost me $5-$10 each.
I found that my flat-top unprotected Panasonic 18650B was a little short for my K40M. The batteries was a little loose in the holder and sometimes the light flickered. So I added a small magnet to the top of each battery and the problem was fixed.
I assume that you can do the same and have your flat-top batteries work fine in any flashlight.
I use Panasonic NCR18650BD, NCR18650PF, Samsung ICR18650-32A and LGABE11865 and they all fit just fine in the K40M battery carrier without the need of a magnet for each flat-top battery.
The magnet costs extra money and I am concerned that it may cause short circuit in certain flashlights.
